Opening port 53 to the Internet is very dangerous and unless you know how to restrict it to just your friends this is not recommended or supported as the DNS server component in Plexconnect has not had any penetration testing and it has been seen in the past to be used by hackers, causing your Plexconnect to become un-responsive because of all their traffic
On top of that many ISP's will block that traffic and/or drop your service :)
Tell them to install a local copy of plexconnect and point to your shared server. Opening plexconnect to the world is not a good idea. You can't even have a password on it! Plus, I don't think they would even be able to connect to your plexconnect.
A few other options you have is a jailbroken aTV2 with PlexConnect directly installed upon it. Also you can use a plexconnect host at the your friends house like @Pouper suggested, personally I prefer using a old iOS jailbroken device with PlexConnect installed upon it, enabling airplane mode then re-enabling wifi to keep it always running. Either way you go as everyone has told you don't open those ports and you will need to login to myplex to be most secure. Here is the links to the aTV2 & jailbroken iOS devices if interested/desired:

Also you could run PHT (Plex Home Theater) or AFTV (Amazon Fire Tv) as clients as well as many other client solutions all which would still need to be signed into myplex.
