Please take a look at the wiki for how to turn the log level to high (the one you provided is just the standard one it think).

Also could you upload a sample somewhere so that we can have a play with?

NB it needs to be "High" (with a capital)

Just put my ATV back in office where it is easy to run tests with.

I get the same issue, it plays fine in iOS but not in PlexConnect, but i am not sure why.

We are looking at it though so hopefully have an answer soon.

Good and bad news, but hopefully it means it will get fixed sooner rather than later.

Some further testing shows it appears to be a PMS issue. It will play on PlexConnect if you set 720p 4meg or below, above that and you only get audio, even if selecting force transcoding. When i realised this i went back to my iPhone and realised that i had local wifi set to 3meg - if i set it to 8 meg i got the same issue.

So i think it needs to be reported in the PMS server forum, link to this post though and you already have a sample file for which they can test with:

Not sure, if this is a PMS issue, because 1080p transcoding is working for my Samsung TV f8090, but it plays directly too. I only tested your transcoding config. It also works very well with 1080p and 20mbit transcoding on my Roku 3.


So is it really no PlexConnect issue…?

Well possibly it might be better to say a PMS issue as relates to the stream it provides iOS devices at higher bitrates.

Maybe it tries to direct play it at the higher bit rates and so causes the issue but the Plex team will probably have a better idea of what is going on.

Hey there,

i recently installed the PMS (0.9.8.4) and get the same issue. Direct playback of ts-files just gives sound and no picture on my ATV3.

I wanted to use a small WHS2011-system as mediaserver, but if i have to force transcoding it's cpu isn't strong enough (2x1.5GHz AMD Turion).

So now i have the following setup working:

- Files on the WHS

- PMS and PlexConnect on my laptop getting the files by LAN from the server

- ATV3 as client asking the laptop to transcode the files for playback to 720p/4Mb  :blink:

This is GREAT compared to the old itunes-solution!

But is there a solution for playing 1080i-ts-files directly on the ATV3 without transcoding on the PMS-system?

cyan... what is the codec used in your .ts files? If it's NOT h264, I guess aTV won't be able to handle it without transcoding...

I think we need some more detailed media info to discuss this.
