PlexData share under 1.23x was never auto shared upon install. Migration successful from Windows

Ok, yeah I messed it up thinking too much on this. I will copy over the other folders. I totally forgot the database was inside the plugin folder. Damn now I feel stupid. Thanks. Will let you know.

how about trying this a simpler way?

Here’s the TL;DR form:

On windows:

  1. Settings - Server - Library
  2. Turn off EVERYTHING (uncheck the boxes)
  3. SAVE
  4. Stop Plex

On QNAP:

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Open File Station → Plex Data → Plex Media Server
  3. See all the files in there
  4. Delete it all — EXCEPT – Preferences.xml

Back to Windows

  1. Drill into your File Explorer (?) and get inside the “Plex Media Server” directory.
  2. Select everything
  3. Drag & Drop into the File Station window

This will copy Plex Media Server → Plex Media Server

Ok, I finally see my meta-data showing what a glorious thing to see. I just need to finish copying over the rest of my media. Thank you! You saved me a ton of time Chuck. Thank you for your patience! I’m a proud PlexPass user. I brag about it to whomever I can. Now I can brag about the support!

Best,
Brian

Don’t forget to go back into your server and do the final cleanup now that you’ve moved and rematched the data to the new locations.

(you did do this?)

Reattaching ==

  1. Add new locations to the library section
  2. Let it scan
  3. Observe the “2” (duplicate) show.
  4. When all items show duplicate — EDIT again – Remove the old location
  5. After all the dupes are gone →
  6. Empty Trash - Clean Bundles - Optimize Databse

Repeat for each library section.

When all library sections are done.

  1. Settings - Server - Library
  2. Turn back all the previously disable Automatic functions
  3. SAVE

Haven’t yet, still copying. Thanks for the clarification of these final steps. Sometimes the order gets fuzzy but makes perfect sense now that I see it spelled out. I may have to make some adjustment/update on my router to get a secure connection (or green padlock) like my windows has . That’s the one thing that is bugging me now.

That’s QNAP

It open http and then must transition https. As long as you keep that in mind, it will flip over ok. If you try to go https → https, it gets awkward because QTS/QuTS doesn’t support FQDNs at the linux level (no ‘domainname’ value)

What is FQDNs ? I also read this post: https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/

Not terribly helpful but it is a complex topic I suppose.

Oh fully qualified domain name ( FQDN )
