PlexDBEditor

Thank you!

Super idea! Keep up the good work.

Thanks to “someone” for this utility, it has been a common request for a Mac program to do this.

Has anyone tried this with databases from XBMC? Currently I believe Plex still uses the same or much the same format. While we are all obviously here because we prefer Plex over XBMC, it would be of help to those people using XBMC on Apple TV boxes (which cannot run Plex).

While I will confess I have only just found this utility and not yet run it, it looks like it might not currently have the option to export a record as an equivalent .NFO file. Could I therefore request that the following two features be added.

  1. Option to export a single record to a single .NFO file and default to save in the movies folder with the correct name
  2. Option to export all or set of selected records to .NFO files and again default to saving in each movies own folders with appropriate names.

Please also keep up the efforts to add support for TV shows.

Yeah, I could provide a version which works with XBMC, I just have to replace the path to the database. But of course this won't work any longer when Plex 0.9 with the new database is out... at that point I wouldn't support a XBMC version any longer. Maybe I'll do this later.

And I already thought about the features you requested... I'll see what I can do. But don't expect it in the near future ;) Also for the support of "TV shows". I won't work on this until Plex 0.9 is out. That part will be a little bit more work which I don't want to make twice.

Personally, I would really like for this application to be accessible from command line so I can remove or refresh old data without having to go into plex via the web i/f to do so.

Many Regards,

Mike

Is it possible to add ‘Mark as Watched’ to the editor?

New version:

  • Added option to edit “Tagline”
  • Added option to change the “Watched” state
  • Added support for profiles
  • Added option to remove a movie from the database

And for those who are interested I also uploaded a version for XBMC. I didn’t test it much, but as only the path to the database differs there (hopefully) shouldn’t be much problems.

I have only done brief testing myself of your XBMC version with XBMC 9.11 for Mac, but so far it seems to work fine. Thanks for doing this.

I just updated the XBMC version of the editor. It fixes problems with the profile selection and a missing scrollbar in some lists. Thanks to John Lockwood for reporting the bugs.

Thanks someone for this very beautiful and helpfull app.

Hey hey someone, could you add support for images to? so we can set backdrop and thumb for a movie, that would be awsome.

I am getting an "unable to open database error" when the program launches. All I can do is close the program at that point - but i can see my movies in there before it closes!

Any ideas? (10.6)

I sent you a PM.

@mkh: maybe someday in the future. But currently I'm not working on this tool until Plex 0.9 is out.

Do you have some inside info the rest of us dont have?? ;)

Whenever you do get around, would you be willing to add a studio option to the editor? IMDB sometimes lists smalltime/no name studios first before the major studios if there are multiple... but listitem.studio only pulls the first one, hence no studio icons for many movies.

This is extremely interesting for me. I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would want a studio flag. Can you please explain a scenario were you would want it/need it?

It's skin related, I'm a perfectionist... and a tinkerer :)

Here's why: (Notice the empty square in the bottom right). That's becuase Zanuck Productions is being scraped instead of Universal Pictures. I have more examples, but here's this one.

Nope, don't have more info than anyone else here :) I just don't want to spend more time programming code which might be useless a couple of days later because Plex 0.9 was released.

When it's out I'll think about adding support for studios. But maybe we won't need a tool like the PlexDBEditor with Plex 0.9 anymore :)

That could be a while. It's been nearly two months since that was posted. :( A real shame, as my mouth was watering at the prospect of *finally* being able to separate my anime from the rest of my TV shows. At least now I can separate my animated films, comedies, classics, etc for my movies.

Thanks!

Any opportunity to add image or trailer edit fields like in Mymovies etc, that would be fantastic !!! Would love to edit images etc attached to the movie

Cheers !!!

I would just love to get the source so I can add and image function for movies myself… if the author has decided not to work more on this until Plex 9 is out, well…

I was a little bit bored, so I ignored the “waiting for Plex 0.9” and spent some time working on the support for TV shows. The new version can be found in the first post of the thread.
