Plexe insists on wrong name for artist

I just added a new EP to my Plex music library. It’s by a new group called “Morning Bell”. When adding it, Plex is unable to find a match, which is not surprising. New group, brand new EP, I don’t expect Plex to have that data.

However, when I manually enter the information, Plex has repeatedly changed the name from “Morning Bell” to “Morning Belle”. I’ve tried several times now to correct it, but to no avail. I tried changing the name to just “Morning” and that took. However, when I then added the “Bell” at the end of the new name it once again changed it to “Morning Belle”.

It’s no biggie, but it bugs me. I expect that when I manually override what Plex wants it to be that my manual override actually overrides Plex (especially given that Plex is unable to match it to anything). Anyone know why I’m experiencing this behavior?

Using Plex Media Server v . 1.19.3.2843 on Linux.

Try adding Morning Bell and their EP to the MusicBrainz database. That should fix this issue. It’s maybe more work than you’re hoping for, but it shouldn’t take more than like 10-20 minutes to do that properly.

I’ll try that, thanks.

It looks like MusicBrainz may indeed be the cause of my problem, they have an artist “Morning Belle” listed.

Probably a case of another artist having that name (which is very similiar), and Plex auto matching with that name because it’s the closest match and it’s also very similiar.

Looks like that was the case. I submitted info to MusicBrainz, now all I can do is wait.

Thanks again for helping out with this.
