For some weird reason, Plex has decided to name all of my 300 or so Bob Dylan albums as “Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan”. I have read the forum to try to resolve the issue, but the discussion about “Merge”, or “Split”, and musicbrainz.org don’t seem to assist with my apparent inability to change the name of the artist. (Surely musicbrainz.org has heard of Bob Dylan.)
BTW, all of these Dylan albums are also in iTunes, and all are correctly identified in iTunes.
Now in resolving this issue, I do NOT really want to have to go in and edit all 300 or so Dylan albums.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Forget it. I figured out how to fix the issue by “Unmatching”, and it wasn’t that difficult.
Oops, I spoke too soon. Now, after a short time displaying the album artist (Bob Dylan) correctly, Plex reverted back to “Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan”.
WTF is going on?
To top it off, now the album cover as well as the album artist is incorrect.
I spent many hours editing embedded tags for each and every one of my music albums, including the album artist, album name, album cover, track name, etc., and they are correct in iTunes. Why won’t Plex use these tags, and why is it not intuitive?
Are there clear instructions on how to prevent this stupidity?
