Plexify | OS X Application

Just one question. I'm presuming the Autoupdate from Github will only happen on relaunch of the app. Is that correct?

You're absolutely right. Plexify checks for updates on every startup. And it's using git pull

@wahlman.j Yes, I've implemented certificate installation, just drag and drop trailers.* and it'll copy them to certificates directory after installation complete.
Concerning sudo su please, provide additional details. We're planning to add fastuser support soon ;)

@RicardoP Thanks for feedback.
1) Most probably you're updating from previous version. In this case it'll restore certificates from previous installation (if you clicked Yes, keep certificates on first launch)
2) My bad, it's just a typo :(

@Arnaud.c The autostart is tested, I assume it's just a weird issue. If it still doesn't work for you send me a message

@wahlman.j Please don't mislead others, the app's advanced installation can copy certificates for you."This app still leaves your machine unsecure since it allows you to type in sudo su" - wrong assumption, The app uses sudo commands to run PlexConnect. Again I need more details, Send me PM so that I can check

You can completely delete everything using "Delete PlexConnect" option from settings.

@tomer1749 It's designed to work that way.

---

No need to open Activity Monitor to close PlexConnect, just click start button while holding control key

Also, looks like I didn't configure my PayPal correctly. You can use this untill I update the app:

@Cyberon good to know you can install certs from the advaced menu I must of missed that, I seen the option in there but didn't attempt to use it yet. I sent you a pm about the sudo issue that only happens when I run your app, otherwise sudo works as intended without once I reset the machine after removing plexify. Not a big deal just wanted to give you feedback on your beta app so you can address it in future releases. Glad you got the autostart working :)

You can delete plexconnect from your app as well nice, didn't see that option either glad you added it :)

Just curious when the app checks for updates does it just install the plexconnect update without notification?

Ok, i'd rather changing it but OK :) :)

What do you think about the feature i suggested? :)

Choosing the app that PlexConnect/Plexify will Hijack. every time Plexify downloading an update from Github it'll edit all the trailers.apple.com lines like people who wants to change the app PlexConnect hijack. It'll edit to the chosen app (For example if iMovie theater is chosen to hijack it'll edit the lines matchly) so we won't have to do this manually and everyone will be able to hijack the app that he, presonally, prefer! It can be awesome!!!!  :)

@wahlam.j thanks for the feedback. I just started to rewrite a Plexify. Instead of typing your password or asking for a password every time you'll see just a small window asking you to install the helper app (that's all). I already have a working copy, a little bit testing and we'll never had any security issues.

@tomer1749 we're definitely looking into it. Most probably next version will already support that.

@Cyberon, I did manage a way through, I made an automator app that launch Plexify, wait a few seconds, exit and then relaunch it. That way it autostart the PlexConnect process. I know it's not the usual way, but it's working for me. Thanks again for your great software, i'm going to donate in PayPal.

Edit :

Donation done

@Arnaud.C Good to know you fixed that. I'll check the app again (maybe that's my fault). I'm currently rewriting the app, most probably in 2-3 days I'll have a new version with most of the features you requested.

Thanks @cyberon

1) I was using the 1.0 "alpha" but had already removed it prior to installing/running 1.1 RC - it "felt" like a couple screens flipped by as if I'd made some input selection but didn't click.  I'm sure testing will ferret out if it's a real issue or just me.

2) I figured as such - no worries of course!

Donation made as well!

You should use amazon webpay its free to send and recieve money unlike paypal (only catch is you need to withdraw $10 or more which at this rate shouldn't be an issue for you) ;)

Here is some other ones as well:

Great job and thanks for continuing the development. I tried to donate via PayPal a few days ago but that didn't work out at all.

He recently fixed his paypal link for donations here is the link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=2LXPT9DC7VU7Q

Finally! Now the app contains a helper, which will start/stop and check PlexConnect status. No more passwords, no more security issues. Oh, one more awesome feature, now it can start PlexConnect even if you're not logged in (at system startup). the app can work even without any visible windows, including menulet (helper will take care of everything).

ETA ~2 days

Awesome. Is this 1.1 Final you're talking about? :)

I don't think version number or name is the most important thing, but most probably yes. it'll be Final or at least "pre-final"

Feedback:

plexify 1.1 RC; mac os X 10.9; mid 2009 mac mini; latest nightly plexconnect

Problem- plexify menuicon vanishes

Description: launch plexify, plexify starts up, appears in the menu,  and starts plexconnect. leave for a few hours; return to computer; plexify menu icon is gone. but plexconnect is still running according to the bash status script. Mac sleep is set to never.

I wonder if it has to do with the new app nap in mavericks.

Maybe try this?

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57612009-263/how-to-disable-app-nap-in-os-x-mavericks/

i found a crash report in console

plexify does not seem to have that option in its get info window

@nesss01 thanks for the feedback, few questions:

1) Is this the first time it crashed?
2) Could you please confirm if your mac was always connected to a network?

concerning "app nap", it's not supported yet (otherwise it might not be compatible with 10.7)
