Have we solved the issue some of us have where when launching Plexify, nothing happens? I don't see anywhere in this thread a solution to this. Running OS X 10.7.5
I am unable to really get Plexify working... Not sure what's wrong as I am a novice at this and hoped Plexify was supposed to simplify the process. It does look like it should but I am stuck on the following step (which is close to the end)...
Installing the profile to ATV. I was able to get Plexify installed. Items downloaded etc etc on my Mac. I changed the DNS to what Plexify told me to.
Send Data to Apple = No
Press Play to Create Profile but when I try to create the profile, it says that it is unable to.
Now, do I need a specific URL for the profile or do I just use the one that's already in the field?
...ppldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/Profiles/
Maybe that's what's wrong?
Thanks for any assistance.
Thanks Baa! Being so new to this and loving plex so much, I was going crazy trying to figure it out as I thought that Plexify was supposedly supposed to 'magically' do this all for me. Plus, it didn't mention it in the startup screens for setup. So I guess the only thing I would recommend is for the intro/setup screens to actually mention to make sure that Plexify is on and running, and then enter the URL or go to the site you gave me to retrieve the URL.
Thanks again!
Great suggestions...
just - I can't help with it.
Keep in mind, Plexify is a "forth-party helper app" to the "third party client" app called PlexConnect. It is "just" a nice GUI to the PlexConnect python scripts helping with the initial setup and/or updating. It is developed completely without any influence of the PlexConnect core team.
There are other solutions around, depending of the host system you are running PlexConnect - eg. linux daemon, OSX launchctl daemon, Synology packages,... Some shipped with PlexConnect from github (still being the heard and soul of that beautiful aTV hack), others not (yet?) included - but all of them open-source to get yourself going.
So, hopefully the Plexify guys are reading your comments. Or you may stick to the official WIKI and processes. It's always good to have some freedom of choice. :-D
Thanks again Baa... As I delve more deeply into Plex and Plex Connect. For the wiki, are you speaking of the plexconnect wiki you directed me to originally or is there one for plexify as well? Either way, if others are having a similar issue, hopefully, they go through all 20+ pages of this thread and find our comments! :)
He is referring to the Plexconnect Wiki.

Honestly, I'm pretty good at working on servers and getting around on the OS. I had to redo my current setup and I thought Plexify would be the way to go. It, IMO, was actually less intuitive than just downloading the files and running them. I had done the process before and even I found the screens to set up plexify confusing.
I think if you're going to get into this kind of thing then it behooves most people to learn what's happening on the backend so that you can figure it out.
Just my 2 cents.
Hey,
Thirst i want to say that your Project is a awesome idea.
The second is that i want to know when plexify for Windows will be released?
Thx
Well, it's the time. I'm making Plexify open source - 1.1 RC, which is the latest public version. Don't forget to check the license.
Compile, modify and have fun!
Those who like to say that I'm a thief and use the app to steal your credit card info, hack FB account and download your nude pics can calm down. Available on GitHub: Repository
I'm developing a new software related to Plex and AppleTV. Those who're interested can contact me via iMessage: vahagn.mkrtchyan [at] me.com. We have all the beta testers we needed! Thanks.

Just give me some time to cleanup the project and push the code. I'll not provide support for the actual building process.

Guys, please +1 this message to cheer our man up for keeping development going :)
I'm aware of the syslog issue... will be fixed in the next version!
Any updates on when this bug will be killed?

Probably - as far as one knows or can tell ;)
if there is no plexify what is an iOS app going to control?
Anyway, is there anyone who can take the RC code from github and continue plexify?

No one but me can develop Plexify. Check the license!
Then this is not open source. Is it?

since i have neither the skill nor the time to develop anything, I have better things to do then checking the license. But thanks for answering at least one of my questions.
Not to be stupid or anything. Well maybe just a little. But doesn’t this defeat the purpose or open source? I mean since you don’t want to develop it anymore you might as well let people use it improve it borrow it. Whatever.
