Tomorrow I’m looking reorganizing some media.
I now have some HDR files (both 1080p &4K)
Those files all have HDR and some other info in squared off brackets. […]
What I wanted to know is using .plexignore can I get Plex to totally disregard those files?
I’m thinking a file with a rule of HDR would work?
Something like this…
Ignore all files with “HDR” in the name
HDR
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Edit strangely the forum doesn’t seem to like me typing an asterisk. So
asteriskHDRasterisk.
I cannot recommend you to use .plexignore at all.
It slows down the folder scan considerably.
If you are reorganizing your folders anyway, consider moving HDR content into a separate folder which doesn’t get included into your movie library (for now.)
Yeah that’s how they currently are.
However I also use Emby and it allows multiple versions including full details of what that version is, be it 3D, HDR or simply different cuts of a movie.
That’s the route I’m hoping to go down.
Sadly the issue in Plex is it will happily prefer to transcode a 4K HDR file to a shared users mobile, than use the 720p version. It actually seems determined to do it in every case.
I was told that Plex will always prefer the first added version and see that as the default.
I will investigate more.
As a side note I created the .plexignore file I mentioned and it actually seemed to work as expected.
Thanks for taking the time to answer anyway.
