PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

How do you guys handle the different movie sections from PMS with PKC?

For example, I have a “Movies” section and a “Test Patterns” section on my PMS, after a scan with PKC in Kodi, those sections are merged - ie. if I choose “Recently Added Movies” in Kodi, it shows both my Movies and Test Patterns, which is not what I want

I was able to redefine the movie sections in Skin Shortcuts to point at the right libraries which effectively un-merged them.

Please elaborate

A number of skins use Skin Shortcuts to manage the main menu. I used Titan – in Titan, delete the default movies library that shows up, it’ll be merged. Make a new shortcut that drills into videos library and it should show your individual libraries with their own ‘recently added’, etc.

Thanks, I’ll try that (I use the fTV skin).

Incremential background sync should now update your Kodi library in seconds. Any “screen flashing” that you’ve experienced should also be a thing of the past (happens only if you actually change a PMS item).

As a sidenote - since you’ve started complaining about missing TV season posters, I guess PKC is running pretty stable

##Changelog##
version 1.0.8

  • Redesigned fast incremential sync
  • Workaround to sync Kodi time with PMS time
  • Fix library sync key error

Thanks, will try this tonight! Question: Should this plugin work with Kodi 17 test builds? Or are there big changes in database structures?

No idea. Try it and tell us what happened

I’ve been testing (trying to run) PKC on the latest Krypton Nightlie Builds… the zips install fine, but when I try to connect to my PMS, a message is displayed to say cannot connect to local PLEX (something like that, its not in front of me at mo)… Also tried adding my local IP into the PKC settings, but not had any luck so far.

…downgrading to Jarvis, PKC finds PMS without any problems, so it must be a Krypton issue.

Seems to be. I’ve got 1.0.7 installed and it’s scanned all my libraries but it hasn’t picked up TV season posters and it hasn’t picked up my music files. However, it has scanned the music folder structure and loaded up the artwork.

I’ll install 1.0.8 over the weekend and post logs if I still encounter these issues.

Tried the 1.08 update, still most of my shows not showing any episodes.

I can’t get this to work still;

I would like to add my PMS’s “Recently Added Movies” list - what is the exact path you browse to (when browsing for the shortcut)?

TV shows are missing? Logs please, send me a PM if you don’t want to make this public

@croneter what is the logic behind the importing of the “On Deck TV Shows”, “Recently Added Movies” etc. lists that PMS maintains. Where should they be located when using PKC?

I can’t seem to find them when browsing for my shortcuts

@MartinAyla I don’t have my system up and running at the moment but if you go to the default Video section one of the subsections there has what your looking for (or should). There are a number of sections to choose from so you need to hunt around but I eventually found things like “next episode” that corresponds to “On Deck” etc. You would map those to your home screen menus.

At least I think thats how it is supposed to work?

Thanks again, but the only “Recently Added Movies” I can find, seems to show the most recently added in regards to being added to the Kodi database. So I see the movies with Z, X etc. in reverse order, not the list that PMS maintains.

Awsome work  thanks so much for your work.
One question though I have. Is this plugin usable with different kodi profiles on one client. Thats how I setup Emby currently or is it not supported?

Is the - Workaround to sync Kodi time with PMS time done to fix connection problems?

with 1.0.8 sill no luck to connect via pin, only via manual IP.

Working now for me well  It is just that I need to specify my IP address of the Server.
As mentioned on other posts here, posters for seasons are missing. And it would be awsome if we could define pathsubtitutions, so we could directly play those files over smb for example.

What I still not get, why is it not possible to have completely different settings for the addon in two different Kodi profiles, instead of having to switch the user within one Kodi profile. Is it possible to handle like two different clients maybe, then it would work?

Thanks again for the awsome work

I tried it with 2 kodi profiles and it didn’t work for me. I know part of that is kodi’s fault because i think profiles in kodi do weird stuff with addon settings. i.e. i’m not entirely sure its possible to have 2 profiles using 1 addon with 2 dif addon settings. the author would have to check into that. whether or not we use kodi profiles or the addon itself to switch users, hopefully there is room to improve it so it becomes much slicker in the future after the prior bugs are squashed

@croneter you did a truly impressive job! I can finally enjoy my Plex library with all the Kodi features. Initial sync went perfectly well (ie no crash) and I found out no issue at all with my Movies and TV shows (artwork, missing episodes, etc.).

I have one question though. It seems that the SRT subtitles retrieved by PMS for my episodes are not synced on Kodi. I need to download them again each time I watch an episode. Is this a known issue/planned feature?

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

@croneter, 1.0.8 works for me so far. Brilliant job! Thanks

A couple of questions…

I’ve got used to plexbmc’s ‘on-deck’ submenu. Is there a way to get that through PKC?

Additionally, the ‘recently added’ submenus on both movies and tv shows don’t match what I get when using a normal plex client. With PKC I seem to get the last few things that have been added from the initial scan.

Thanks, and keep up the good work
