PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

Perhaps another bug? Thought it might be an issue with the skin, but skin developer says no. Issue below does not exist on initial play - only when resuming.

Think I found a bug: if you resume a movie from a widget, the Extended Info is greyed out in the OSD. I have tried from the script helper ‘recently added’ and ‘now playing’ widgets

If you resume from the ‘all movies’ list, Extended Info is selectable.

Skin Developer Wrote:
Works fine for me. Sounds like whatever is supplying your content is not setting the videoplayer content type correctly. The button will only show if content type of videoplayer is movies or episodes.

You know the drill - thanks if you open a new issue on github

hey guys,
since the last PMS update (1.7.5), PKC is unable to connect to my server…I’m connected to plex.tv on kodi, I see my server in the list, but PKC can’t connect to it…

Works here… Try to completely reset PKC: go to the PKC Settings, then Advanced, then the red Reset the Kodi database. Hit YES, YES, YES.

If that doesn’t work, I will need your logs: How to Report A Bug · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

Reset everything, still doesn’t work. This is what I see in kodi.log:

I fixed it. Turns out, before the update my server address was the fqdn used by plex.tv (the one that contains the server IP), and after it got reseted to my fqdn (I have PMS behind a reverse proxy), but the port stayed on 32400, so PKC couldn’t connect. I changed the port to 443, and it’s working.

Question or suggestions for this awesome plugin:

  1. Will it be possible somehow to have a watchlist for videos which can be synced with Kodi. So each time i add a movie in plex app or Kodi it will be synes?
  2. I have installed my rating on Kodi so each time i rate a movie it syncs to TMDB with my rating. Will it be possible to have it synced through PKC?

Thanks for your fantastic work on this plugin.

Does anybody successfully use PKC with remote files? I am using a VPS setup where the files lie at Google and are mounted to the server, which is obviously not in the same network as PKC. I was not successful to play any file at all. Am I missing a setting or is this case not supported?

Use addon paths and not direct paths

I wasn’t successful in the past with libreelec on my chrombox, I was now testing on my laptop running linux and kodi.
I am sorry, I didn’t do my home work since I didn’t check the logs. I was getting a ssl connection error, with either addon or direct paths. I could only resolve this by disabling SSL, then the files played at both addon and direct path. Strangely I could not log into plex.tv, but was still successful to link to my account, no idea what that means. Probably the same ssl error, have to dig into this…

The error while scanning looks like this
11:03:44.388 T:140373915739904 ERROR: CCurlFile::Stat - Failed: SSL connect error(35) for https://"serverip".plex.direct:32400/library/parts/17201/1483472370/ 11:03:44.388 T:1token WARNING: Process directory 'https://"serverip".plex.direct:32400/library/parts/17201/1483472370/' does not exist - skipping scan.

Edit: Applied this “fix” in my linux install, which made it work:
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=304600
Unfortunately, I can’t do this in libreelec (no apt), so I need to see how to resolve this on my box.

Led to a new error

If you run into ssl errors, chances are that you are using old python packages/installations. Try to use LibreElec instead of OpenElec

Edit - I see you are already using LibreElec . Try to reset the Kodi db in the PKC settings under advanced, then the red Reset the Kodi database, the Yes, Yes, No

  1. A synching of Plex playlists to Kodi is currently not supported. But it has been requested frequently.
  2. I have no idea what you mean, sorry. Ratings are synced from Plex to Kodi and - I think - the other way around as well . Whatever else you do on the Kodi side of things is up to you and should “naturally” work

Hi,

Another issue I am having is with the generation of chapter thumbnails. If I am playing a movie, bring up the osd, and go to ‘bookmarks’, kodi is supposed to automatically start generating chapter thumbs. This works fine when using a native kodi library, but no thumbs are generated when using PKC.

Do you want me to create a github issue for this?

Of course you may. But not as an “issue” but a feature request

Ok,

I have added a feature request.

https://feathub.com/croneter/PlexKodiConnect/+34

I figured it was an issue, as generating chapter thumbs for ‘bookmarks’ on the OSD is a standard kodi function, but this functionality is not working when using PKC - so I figured PKC was somehow doing something inadvertently to prevent the generation.

Okay thanks for the answer. The playlist thing would be excellent.
On 2. It doesn’t work for me. When I go into my library and vote it doesn’t get updated on plex app. Have i missed a setting?

I think croneter meant that kodi functionality should continue to work as is it does. As far as I know, PKC does not sync metadata edits (outside of play state) made in Kodi up to Plex.

Yes.
