If I play a movie from a home screen widget based on a plex item, for example ‘recently added’ movies or a collection, the trailers do not play. However, even though the movie started playing without trailers or pre-roll, stopping the movie and looking at the current playlist shows two trailers, my pre-roll and then the selected movie.
I does not matter how I add the plex item to the widget, both paths below yield same results in that trailers do not play:
video library → Movies (with plex icon) → Recently added
Video Add-on → PlexKodiConnect → Movies → Recently added
If I go into ‘all movies’ and select a movie from there, the trailers do play.
Regarding ‘information’, if I manually navigate to video addon → plexkodiconnect → ~~movies ~~TV Shows → recently added, then I do get the ‘information’ dialog when bringing up the menu. However if I add to a widget via this path, ‘information’ still does not display.
And, I suspect this is related, when I select an episode from the widget, it starts to play right away instead of showing the ‘info/detail’ screen. I have changed the default action from ‘play’ set to ‘show information’. If I select an episode from ‘all tv shows’ it does show the information screen.
I’d say it seems something is a little off in the widget path implementation - as that seems to be the root of both issues?
Edit: do you still want a log. Or does above give you enough info to reproduce?
Another discover. If I play the movie right from the widget (without going into the information page first), the trailer will play. However, if from the widget I enter the info page and then play from there, the trailers do not play.
As per point 2. above, the trailers do play from the info page.

You’re now definitely hired as a professional bug hunter

Sorry I wasn’t explicit. Recommandations are a feature of android tv and it’s a feature used by kodi 18
It looks like this : http://imgur.com/a/2LGqe
If I use Kodi with classic media management I have recommandations displayed on the home of my android tv, if I use Kodi with plexconnect, nothing is displayed on my home.
But as it’s a new feature I have no idea of how it works
Hey Everyone, I’d like to enable plex music (initially i choose to disable it). Whats the best way to do it? Hopefully i dont have to reset the settings completely

In the settings there’s an option to enable the music library.
Please let me know how it goes, I’ve been hesitant to enable it due to the warning that it might crash Kodi.

After changing that setting (under “Sync”), you need to reset your Kodi database: go to “Advanced”, then the red reset the Kodi database. Hit YES, YES, NO

Thanks Guys. I’ll try in a few days and let you know.

Just tried this and no joy. Not a major though though so no worries.

Well music works perfectly with direct paths as far as I know. What’s your issue?
There is one issue with it (one that should not be a problem to most installs) though:
If you reset your library (I was messing around with different settings and custom libraries in plex so I was doing this a couple of times) in the pkc settings (last item, yes, yes, no) it does remove all movies and series from the kodi database, but it does NOT remove the music from the kodi database.
Like I said, not an issue with most installs, and I couldn’t be bothered enough to create a github issue hahaha.
Sorry for ‘reporting’ a bug like this without logs etc. If I can be bothered to install kodi+pkc somewhere that I’m not using I will try to get the logs etc. (all raspberry pi’s and my notebook are working perfectly fine, so I am not that happy to mess with them at the moment, sorry)
I now have all my raspberry’s set to native paths including music library, and my notebook to addon paths without music (as I tend to use kodi when not at home, so cannot use native paths)
I’m happy

I’m just after realizing that my path substitution for music is wrong Silly mistake (all the other libraries have the same parent). I will change over the weekend.
I’m currently using PKC and to be honest I like it a lot. I do have some gripes that I miss from my old SQL DB setup. The fact that the content takes some time to load on startup and the selected media sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to start playback are just 2 of the issues I am struggling to get over. As for the rest, it’s pretty neat actually. At least now I can use KODI while at home and still access using the Plex IOS app on the move, picking up where I left off.

What do you mean by ‘content takes some time to load on startup’? You mean when your first start Kodi?
My media starts playback within a second or 2 - IF I my NAS is not asleep. If it is asleep, then playback can take 15-20 seconds to start, but this is not PKC’s fault.
Assuming your playback delay is not because you nas is asleep, see Hitsville’s post below, maybe this will help you out:

Well I finally got around to coming back to PKC.
I have never had a problem with it in the past, it’s just been the kodi skins themselves I have never really taken to. Arctic Zephyr being the best for my needs. That changed today with when I discover both Horizon (early stages) and fuse.neue (all three made or adapted by jurialmonkey so I guess we have similar tastes) I finally have my rotten tomato ratings and believe me that took some reading up on.
All these years of thinking 2-3 seconds playback start-up is decent.(maybe add a further second for resuming a partial watched)
Well now I know and have to say I’m pretty shocked at how setting up PMS via the above link makes such a massive difference.
I use a harmony remote (via Bluetooth) and there is no way it takes more than a half a second for playback to start and it makes no difference if you start from the beginning or 96 minutes into a 2 hour movie. Hell I’m even using these paths for Sonarr & Radarr now.
Just do it… It takes about 20 minutes if you have to set up from scratch (via Homegroups).
@croneter Awesome app
Couple that with some new amazing skins, RT ratings and Kodi’s notification ability. I don’t think there’s any way back to the Plex official apps now.

Yeah, with each restart or launch of Kodi I get a screen with nothing but blank clapperboard style shortcuts that take some seconds to populate. Sometimes the PKD welcome message appears before… Sometimes after. In any case, clicking a shortcut before it loads images just takes me to a empty library that stays empty for some seconds until it finally displays the content. Selecting anything in the library then takes a minimum of 5 seconds to load.
I’ll take a look at the post you provided. Thanks!
Perhaps another bug? Thought it might be an issue with the skin, but skin developer says no. Issue below does not exist on initial play - only when resuming.
foghat Wrote:
Think I found a bug: if you resume a movie from a widget, the Extended Info is greyed out in the OSD. I have tried from the script helper ‘recently added’ and ‘now playing’ widgets
If you resume from the ‘all movies’ list, Extended Info is selectable.

Works fine for me. Sounds like whatever is supplying your content is not setting the videoplayer content type correctly. The button will only show if content type of videoplayer is movies or episodes.
Anyone been using this with a Plexdrive setup? Been getting failed playback on the first try, works on the 2nd about 50% of the time. The other 50% it’s fine.

Make sure of the following:
In the PKC settings under Artwork, activate Force artwork caching
Hit the yellow Cache all images to Kodi texture cache now. Let Kodi sit for 30-60min to let PKC do its job
