PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I am having an issue with Direct Paths that I cannot figure out how to fix. I can see my files fine through Plex. I am doing the option to allow PKC to change the paths. My current paths are below. But when it tries to sync the files it cannot find them. It says Kodit cant locate file: /media/movie/…(name of movie folder). But it is not listing tardis in the beginning which is the name of my server. How do I fix this?

Original Plex Movie Path to replace : \ ardis\media\movies
Replace Plex Movie with: smb://tardis/media/movies

Try to change the original movie path to replace: /media/movie and replace with: smb://tardis/media/movies

Mind the case!! And obviously the exact spelling

I am using PKC with Alpha versions of Kodi Leia it’s working great so far!
The only thing that’s a bit strange is a warning that constantly (about 50 times per second) comes up in the Kodi log:

`15:48:26.100 T:3765433232 WARNING: CAddonSettings[plugin.video.plexkodiconnect]: failed to parse visible condition “eq(-1,true)” of old setting definition for “skipContextMenu”
and so on…

Don’t get me wrong. I am not complaining since PKC is working flawless, but the constant warning messages don’t make it easier to go through the log file.

Is there any chance to get rid of the warning message?

Seems like there is an old PKC setting Kodi doesn’t like. Try to completely reset PKC: go to the PKC Settings, Advanced, Reset the Kodi database (in red), hit Yes, Yes, and Yes to reset PKC completely. Thanks for reporting back whether it worked or not

I have this same issue on Kodi 18-ALPHA1, albeit the warnings are only expressed about 10 times per second. Complete PKC reset did not remove the issue.

I’ve been having an issue with PlexKodiConnect v1.18.18 on Kodi 17.6 arm64 on FireTV Gen 2 Box. While syncing the TV episodes, the process gets to anywhere between 30 and 50 percent complete and then Kodi dies. There don’t appear to be any issues in the logs, the last entry is adding an item (and it doesn’t appear to be the same item every time/on every device). This is happening on 2 units, one connected wireless and the other hardwired. On the same network I have a Forge TV (using the same Kodi Android client as the Fire TV’s) and a Windows 10 PC that both were able to sync and work properly. The sync process was able to complete properly using SPMC 17.6, but I kept running into strange behavior using it and would prefer to stick with Kodi if possible. I am attaching my logs here in case they are helpful.

I have cleared the database, uninstalled/reinstalled Kodi, even factory reset the FireTV’s and installed Kodi and PKC from scratch but there is no change in the behavior. I have also lowered the thread count to 1 and max items to 50 while disabling fanart fetching and caching with no change in behavior.

Has anyone else run into issues on the FireTV Gen 2 box recently? This setup used to work pretty well, and then I developed this problem around October 2016.

Rolling back to Kodi 17.5.1 seems to have resolved this problem for the time being.

Hi @croneter, firstly thanks for such a fantastic Kodi addon you’ve created. I’ve used Plex for years and have an extensive library that I share with friends and family, however this is the first time I’ve moved over to Kodi as a front end and the integration you have provided is outstanding.

So my issue may not be related to PKC but to be honest I’m confused about the cause, so I thought I’d start by asking here. Apologies if I’m heading down the wrong rabbit hole

The problem is with the backgrounds in my skin (Black Glass Nova) I have selected random movie fanart however instead of just displaying movie fanart, it is also showing images from some of my other libraries, one of which is a collection of hundreds of display calibration images. This means that every 2nd or 3rd image that displays will be 10% grey, 75% red or a sharpness pattern etc. I have made a presumption that this is being caused by PKC as when it does a full scan of the library I see it include these libraries.

Is there a reason these libraries are being added to the movie scan? Within in Plex they are listed as other videos rather than movies. My TV show backgrounds don’t seem to be affected in the same way and are correctly identified.

Is there a way to prevent this behaviour?

Thanks again for your great work and apologies once more if this isn’t a PKC issue

Cheers

Does anybody has a problem after upgrading to the latest PMS version (1.11.1.4730, plex pass channel)?

PKC see the Plex server, but I get a connection error (of course I have already tried to hard-reset the plugin settings and databases).
If I connect to an “old” .4666 server it works without any problems, so I think my issue is related to the latest update.

EDIT: Solved! I tried to start PMS from the scratch and now PKC works well as expected.
Thank you for this very useful plugin!

So you cannot reach Plex by its hostname NAS-SYNOLOGY, but the above IP 192.168.1.103 works when you manually add a Kodi source? Make sure you’re using fixed IPs then.

Try the following:

  • Make sure that you do NOT have any Kodi sources manually added! This confuses Kodi and is unnecessary for PKC. It’s only a way of testing whether you can actually access the Plex media files using Kodi
  • Use the following PKC settings (remember that these paths are case-sensitive!!):
    • Original Plex movie path to replace: /volume1/VIDEO
    • Replace Plex movie path with: smb://192.168.1.103/video
    • Same for TV series (no need to attach the FILMS or SERIES if it is exactly the same folder, mind the case though!)
  • In the PKC settings under Advanced, hit the red Reset the Kodi database.... Then hit Yes, Yes, No

Hi croneter,
I have a problem with direct path. all is working beautifully with your settings just above.
I have to restore to stock my shield tv for some reasons and i recreate setting for kodi with your plugin on a new installation on shield tv.
I register the same path settings as above and take a screenshot:

Unfortunaly it doesn’t work. all my network is the same, I have just restore the shield tv.
my Nas is still on the fixed ip 192.168.1.103 and my movies folder on this path (the same as before):
/NAS-SYNOLOGY/volume1/video/FILMS

is something change on the last revision of your plugin concerning direct path ? If You could help me to restore directpath on my shield it would be so nice thanks
regards pierre

This is “by design” and caused by PKC. For Kodi, there is only one single categorie for movies, not several as with Plex. Kodi does not distinguish between the different categories you may have set. Hence Kodi will simply display “all” art for “movies” randomly.

As a workaround, you could use a different user which does NOT have access to your calibration images Plex library. Or choose different backgrounds that won’t randomly show artwork - you might even be able to set a “widget” kind of thing for the background and you could choose a PKC widget for the library you so desire (depends on the skin though).

In the long run, you could exclude the Plex library for calibration images entirely. But that needs extensive work on the PKC side. Here’s the feature request: Feathub.comfeathub.com | Tempat rekomendasi situs judi online terbaik dengan bonus yang beragam dan terpercaya

If you updated the Kodi side of things as well, an update of the smb protocol might have caused your issues. See the ** SAMBA / SMB CHANGES ** here https://libreelec.tv/2017/11/libreelec-krypton-v8-2-1-mr/, even if you’re NOT using LibreElec.

You might also need a password to access the smb shares. Check step 2 here: Set up Direct Paths · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

Nothing I can see in the logs, unfortunately - Kodi simply crashes :disappointed: Here some thoughts - apart from downgrading Kodi like you mentioned:

  • Do you have enough disk space for Kodi? There’s a ton of artwork PKC downloads
  • If you have Kodi debug logging enabled, do you have enough RAM? See if free RAM declines over time during sync…
  • If you’re using a SD card with Kodi, try replacing it. Some SD cards are crap and lead to an instable Kodi
  • Is your Python installation up-to-date?
  • Maybe re-scanning all your media on the Plex side of things helps (using Plex web).

Thanks mate, I have already done as you suggested and added another home user. For now it seems like the most elegant solution.

I have another question if you don’t mind and once again I’m unsure if this is a PKC or Black Glass Nova issue. I was hoping to use the nextup service notification and despite setting it up, it doesn’t trigger when a tv episode finishes. I was wondering if this might be a limitation of how PKC is accessing the footage and whether this is even possible?

Nextup service used to work fine for my PKC installation a couple of months ago. I don’t know now, sorry. I’m expecting to publish a new PKC version soon with huge changes on the backend. That may help. Or you could ask in the Kodi forums, guess they have a dedicated thread.

I forgot - are you using PKC direct paths? First thing to try if a kodi addon is not working

I have an issue with PKC and Kodi/DSPlayer - every time when I switch PKC off, Kodi hangs. After Kodi restart, PKC is disabled. There are no issues when I switch PKC on.

Hello croneter,

Please excuse my horrible english.

On the last weekend I set up a new libreelec-client on the last stable version 8.2.3. on a small Atom-x86-HTPC.

First I installed the Plex-Addon, but this was not the right for my exspections. So I deinstalled it and installed PlexKodiConnect. I tried several versions: stable and beta, I loaded the zip-files from github.

In every case, I am not able to reach the configuration of the addon. The Buttons „run“ and „configure“ are grey. I googled and surfed around for hours, but i didnˋt found a solution.

Could you pleas help me and give me a hint? Do you need more information?

Thank you very much and best regards

Johannes
