@croneter I’m still having some problems, it’s different things at different times. I’m still needing frequent database resets, and it sometimes crashes back to kodi main screen when I try to rewind when watching something. Here’s a log hastebin it’s not debug level, but I can get one if required.

Please get your Kodi in order first. I would highly suggest that you download an “original” copy from www.kodi.tv.
I am using plexkodconnect and direct path for my music playback. I have the server setup with \10… for my library based on what was recommended.
I go to plex either on my phone or in my web browser and select the pkc device to play too and then select the album to play. After a song is complete both the tool I am using to control the playlist as well as kodi itself shows like its playing the next song. However the song that is being played is a repeat of the previous one. the kodi log also shows the smb path of the song as the previous one that just got done.
I belive this is happening after every song. Each song is played twice while kodi and plex looks like it goes thought the album properly.
I tried this again without the customized path checked and it was doing this still.
the playlist url was now pointing to http but it was the same as the previous song while the app and kodi showed the next song
Hi, may a simple question but actually i m a bit stuck.
meanwhile i have the issue that almost anytime when i start watching something on 1 client it gets
immediately set as status seen,
all clients are set default (addon path, no music, no extra fanarts, …)
i see when i start the playback that the marker in kodi also changes directly to seen
(sometimes it takes a little until the stream starts up so i can see that)
i know it wasnt like that before, there it always like ~ 90 % + until status changed like it should be.
may someone has a hint what could be the reason therefore ? should i change to direct path ?
This happens if you startup playback and then within a couple of seconds stop playback again. This is a Kodi issue that I can’t really fix.
Do you have this issue also if you watch at least 30s of video after playback has started?
I have only used this with music. i can try video.
What I am seeing is that I open plex in my browser or on my phone app. I then select my kodi device i want to playto. I click on an album and click play. It seems like right out of the box the first song starts and stops right away then then starts again. This is what I see in the kodi logs too. Then it completes and seems to start over again before it continues to the next song.
Makes sense what you are saying. But I am not sure why its happening.

yes, i never just play a few seconds, sample, i go into the bathroom and start a show, stop it after 15 minutes, show is stated as seen …
when i think about your comment, this seems really to happen if kodi needs a little to start the stream, it looks almost like a start, stop, start behavior … wich then would fit what you say, even i only hit the ok button to start once … i may make a video and show you what it looks like.

i hit start > short circle comes up (loading) > circle is gone (like directly stopped) > circle comes up again (loading) > show gets marked as seen > video stream starts
when i now stop the stream its marked as seen, when i check the plex deck i see its marked as seen, but when i start the stream again it recognizes the last position, so its only about the “seen” status.
@croneter Hi Again, I think I might have found a bug, but just in case I am doing something stupid I will check here first. I have been setting up all my Kodi Instances to use PKC. I have done this by copying the KODI directory (the Appdata one) from my main machine to each of the other machines. I then have been going in to settings->Advanced->Generate a new unique Plex device ID and selecting that option. It then says it needs to close and restart Kodi. It closes Kodi but does not restart it. I restart Kodi and it all seems fine. However if I play a video on more than one Kodi install using PKC it is still identified as the same device. So it doesn’t look like the option is working. I can manually modify the id in the settings and this solves the issue for the moment
Am I doing something wrong with the Generate a new unique Plex device ID?

@croneter casting from the iOS app isn’t working for me in the 2.4.9 stable release. I just don’t see the device to cast to.

I don’t know if this is a Kodi or a PKC issue, but here it is. In Kodi context menu there is something called “Reset resume position”. When I use this with my Plex library in Kodi it first seems to work, but later the resume position is back to where it was before. Is there any possibility this can work with Plex as it is intended in Kodi? I found it annoying when I’m just watching a scene in a movie, for test etc, and it pops up as “in progress” on my home screen.

Just an open question, what skins do u use with kodi 18? I’m using coreelec on my C2 at the moment. Before my C2 I was using a raspberry on kodi 17 with the titan skin. But it appears not compatible with kodi 18. So looking for alternatives.
Anyone has some nice suggestions?

Beta 5 of kodi 18 breaks PKC. I tried incrementing the DB_VIDEO_VERSION but it wont work. The DB syncs but no artwork is shown.

Turns out it was the SSL cert, I turned it off in PKC options and it started working.

Has anyone else had any issues with ‘phantom’ playback?
I’ve got PKC 2.4.9 running on Kodi Leia Beta 4, and I’m currently watching something via one of the PVR plugins.
If I look in Tautulli or in Plex status, it’s showing that PKC is direct streaming a totally different show to the same box, with a start time of around when I started playing the PVR recording. I’ve just stopped playback to get the version numbers for above and now Plex / Tautulli show that playback has stopped. Started PVR playback again and it seems to be back to normal.
Looking through the Tautulli history I’ve seen this happen before once or twice - random episodes from shows in my library being shown as part played when I know they haven’t…
Any suggestions on how to debug this - leave logging on and hope it happens again?

I don’t use pvr BUT I know pretty much what could be causing this. Please enable debug logging, restart Kodi and play that one item that caused this issue in the past. Then share your log file as described in the wiki on github (replace your tokens!!). That should be sufficient
OK - will do. When I resumed playback on the PVR it didn’t show as ‘phantom’ playback having restarted. I’ll not delete the recorded show and try again from the start later…
I currently have my Movies & TV libraries in 2 folders each, one for 4k content and another for everything else.
Is there a solution with Direct Paths to enter a second folder for each type?
Would be very handy.
