PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

Option number 2 should always work:

Alternatively, if you’re lucky, your different folders of the same type are all within the same “master folder”, e.g. /media/movies/ for /media/movies/4k and /media/movies/other-movies. Simply ONLY choose the master folder in PKC path settings, e.g. /media/movies

Any suggestions why when using the plex app to cast to a kodi device running plexkodiconnect When I play a album the first song seems to immediately restart. then it will play through the end and start over. After that the rest of the album will play properly.

Question, does your PlexKodiConnect/Kodi refresh immediately what has been recently added? Or do you have to restart Kodi to see recently added? My background sync seems to not function.

Using a hosted server outside my network.

I have a hunch why this could happen. Please wait for the brand-new, upcoming beta version 2.5.0 and then try again

For PKC background sync to work, you need to use a Plex Home master user - this is due to limitations on the Plex side, unfortunately. Workaround that might help you: reduce the time between full syncs in the PKC settings.

I cannot reproduce your issue. I do get a new, unique device ID. Could you try again and share your DEBUG Kodi log file as explained here? It should tell me e.g. if the new ID is identical to the old one

many thanks.

I don’t know if I’m Plex Home Master. But I am server administrator. Will that work or do I have to buy Plex Pass? Have not had time to test with server administrator user. Waiting for version 2.5.0

Hi,

I searched everywhere in Kodi & in PKC settings, tried many combination but I always have a very annoying error each time I try to enter an album, list, playlist… etc in the Music section of Kodi.

The error is “Music Library needs to rescan tags from files. Would you like to scan now ? Yes / No”.

I tried Yes, No, Add-on Path, Direct Path, reset config, restart install from scratch… nothing made this error message to disappear. Music plays fine but the error message is always present.

I’m using Direct Path.

Can anyone help me before I become crazy  ?

Thanks !

PS: my setup is PKC 2.4.9 on Leila 18.0RC1 (Build 20181103)

That issue has been resolved already, BUT you need to reset the database manually:

  • Go into the PKC Settings, Advanced section
  • Hit Reset the Kodi database, then Yes, No
  • Let Kodi reboot and resync

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately I’ve already done that without any success.

What I have done:

  • delete ~/Library/Application Support/Kodi -> so I’m sure I’m running a fresh Kodi install
  • Install from zip the PKC repo (1.0.2)
  • Install PKC (2.4.9)
  • Register PKC with plex server
  • Select Direct Path
  • Transform UNC Library Path -> Yes
  • Replace custom library path -> No
  • Network Credential -> No (no need as using local direct path)
  • Disable Plex Music Library -> No
  • Fan art in background -> Yes
  • Custom ratings -> No
  • Fine tune PKC -> No
  • Wait for Kodi restart
  • Select Plex User
  • Message: New Plex Music library detected, sorry but we need to restart -> OK (but sync already started)
  • Wait sync to finish (Movies, TV Shows then music)
  • Exit Kodi Settings
  • Go to Kodi main menu (Movies: Ok, TV SHows: Ok)
  • Go to music -> Music or Music -> Albums -> Error message but title plays correctly.
  • Quit Kodi
  • Restart Kodi
  • Go to music -> Music or Music -> Albums -> Error message but title plays correctly.

Have you tried using Kodi 18 Beta 5 instead of the nightly RC? Lots of stuff changes and potentially breaks with nightlies, so no PKC support there, sorry

Of course: I tried with beta4 and I had issues, so I tried with a nightly. Same problem with beta5 (just retried now using the steps described above)

I do not know if it is of any interest but I attached PKC settings settings.xml.zip (1,8 Ko)

Hi croneter

I was loading up a new box and am having an issue. Everything works EXCEPT it is not loading(syncing) the movies. Everything else is fine.

thanks

Maybe this could be a feature request.

Hi croneter,

is it possible to let PKC create .strm-links in an (i.e.) network share? I use some addons (Amazon Prime Video and Netflix) to create such links for library integration. So when I manually update the library, Plex enties are gone (sometimes) and I had to rerun the whole import process. When I have a additionally folder (share maybe) with the Plex .strm-links, this shouldn’t care. Maybe a thing for version 3.0?

Why would you do that since it’s 100% managed by PKC?

Everything is possible, but that is not the aim of PKC, sorry

I have android box with Leia beta5 and plexkodiconnect. When I run KODI it is about 30s waiting for plexkodiconnect to log in and then when I press play for movie, again waiting for movie to begin 30-40s.

I think this is too long. My PMS is on my home network on windows and I am using add-on with direct play for plexkodiconnect.

What I did wrong ?
