PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I don’t know. Please share your Kodi DEBUG log file as described here: How to Report A Bug · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

I can then have a look at what’s going on

Here is my log:

@sscc should probably remove all those addons and try it with a default clean Kodi install

@sscc you did not enable debug logging nor start playing a video so there is not much to see. I agree with @anothername though - try PKC with a clean Kodi install

I did play a movie for 1 or 2 min. Do I have to uninstall Titan skin too? A lot of work again :disappointed:

The skin should not be an issue, but you’re many other addons might

Ok, clean install Kodi with PKC only:

Thank you!

And what exactly is the issue? Were you able to play something?

Yes I did, but it was almost 2min after movie started when I pressed play. I am using Direct play (no transcode). I think this is too long waiting…
And when I press play, the movie gets icon watched, even if I played only 2min.

And when I start Kodi, I wait 1 min to get sign Plexkodiconnect signed in.

So this is 3min before I can even watch movie :disappointed:

And one more thing, how can I be sure that direct play works?

@sscc
Please share your log again, the last link leads nowhere…

By having a look at the Kodi log file only.

Maybe I am not doing log file right I don’t know. This is my first time. I did it like it was said in instructions

For log file, how long must I play movie? Is 2min enough?

Does anyone know how to force a transcode using direct paths? I thought it was done by pressing “c” over the file you want to transcode and in Plex options choosing force transcode, but it just direct plays as normal. Is there anything I need to change in settings? I’ve tried almost everything and I can’t get it to transcode. Everything else works perfectly and I’m not willing to put up with add-on paths just to play these few files my box can’t handle (some 10bit anime). Any insight would be appreciated.

Edit: Also I tried doing conversions via PMS and when I choose play via PMS it gives me the choice to play the other files, but even if I choose them it plays the original file anyways, not the conversions. I have no idea why.

Edit 2: If I manually play the conversion by directly going to that folder in Kodi it plays fine.

Thanks for the log via email. Looking at it, I’d strongly suggest you try stable Kodi 17.6 instead of the still somewhat unstable Kodi 18

Ok, then I will have to try Kodi 17.6, because I really like PKC. I really hope it will be better…

Thank you!

I have PKC with direct play add-on. I use Artwork Beef with Universal movie scraper. With some of my TV shows Artwork beef can’t find banner and fanart. It finds only poster. On my PMS I have poster, banner, fanart…for this show. I thought that Artwork beef first look for local files and than search web. So why I don’t have banners from movie folder ?

Thank you for your help !

No one has any clue?

This should work when you press the context menu button (C), then hit Force transcode in the pkc options. You might need to lower the resolution in the PKC Settings under playback to see an effect - otherwise your transcoded video will look like the original one.

Nobody knows ?

Try to reset the Kodi database in the PKC settings under Advanced, then Reset the Kodi database, then Yes, No. Then let artwork beef do its magic again

Tried lowering the resolution, but the transcoding never even kicks in. I’ve watched those episodes on the Plex app on my TV and with transcoding they play perfectly at the max resolution (they are 1080p).

Even if I trancode them in the Plex server and have the transcoded file there, when I press the “c” choose play with PKC (or something like that, I’m not in front of my screen now) and select the transcoded file, it doesn’t actually select it, but it plays the original file (which looks very choppy on my Android box). I’m thinking it might be a bug in PKC, are you sure it’s working right for people using Direct Paths? I’m on the latest beta and would be happy to provide logs if needed.
