PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I use Titan Mod skin. And all my widget are fast loading. But for PlexKodiConnect-recently added tv shows I am waiting to load a very long time?

Why is that?

Thanks for your help!

I have a similar problem with the amber skin.

The PKC on deck widgets take ages to load.

This doesn’t happen on aeon Nox silvo but does take a while the 1st time it loads. So maybe he is caching the widgets.

Your problem with recently added might be similar to what I had with recently added.
It was showing about 100 episodes in recently added instead of just season 1, 2, 3 etc… and because of that took a long time to load.

The TV show widgets created by selecting a PKC video library do not comply with skinhelpers “stack TV shows” option.

If I select the standard Kodi TV show library for the widget these do comply with skinhelpers option and all TV shows in the recently added widget are stacked.

Yes, I think this is a problem. What is then the best way(link) to add widget tvshow-recently added ?

Try the skin Aura. Choose the same pkc widget. Does it work faster?

Of course they do not “comply” - you’re talking of another addon. Nor do Kodi native widgets “comply”.
Stacking episodes is simply not yet supported by PKC. It should be solved by Kodi directly, ideally (again - widgets would be much faster that way)

Some skins let you limit the amount of items in the widget.
Limiting it to 10 or 25 will speed it up.

The other way is using the standard Kodi recently added TV show library and selecting stack TV shows in the skin helper add-on.

I think we have our wires crossed somewhere lol.

The skinhelper add-on as far as I’m aware just adjusts the standard Kodi widget.

It is not a separate widget.

That is what I was getting at, why does it adjust the standard Kodi library widget but not the PKC library.

Anyway it doesn’t particularly matter because I just use the Kodi widget and it works.

All my TV shows from Plex show as stacked in recently added.

Trust me my friend - widgets are a pain in the ass from a developers perspective

No

Yes it is.

Yes! Use any widget that works for you. The PKC widgets have a single “benefit” - they only show a dedicated Plex library (i.e. are not mixing up different Plex libraries)

I tried Aura and it is much faster. With Titan Mod I wait 90seconds to load.
But I like Titan Mod skin…

Tell the Titan guys!!

I’ll include something in PKC to set a limit to the number of items being shown - that will help

I now selected recently added widget trough Default widget> Skin helper Service Widget>Tv shows>Recently added tv shows

Now is super fast and episodes stack together. I cross fingers to work everything like that :grinning:

I do apologize I was totally wrong and was getting confused completely.

I understood the PKC widgets were separate and I actually need to use those for movies because I have 3 different movie libraries.

I did not realise Kodi didn’t come with any widget libraries as standard and the 2 that are there (Movies and TV shows) are part of the skin helper add-on.

Luckily I only have 1 TV show library so using the skinhelper widget for those is not a problem. And is the only way to have the recently added TV shows stacked I think.

Once again, I apologize.

I have another question though if you don’t mind helping.
I have been talking with the amber skin developer for the past week who is fine tuning his latest skin and 1 of the problems it has is the PKC on deck widgets take a while to load (5 secs or so) when changing libraries in the main menu.

Using the aeon Nox silvo skin this doesn’t happen the widgets change instantly going from 1 library to the next.

He was wondering if maybe the aeon Nox guy maybe fine tuned something for the PKC widgets.

Do you have any ideas ?

Aura theme’s “Recently Added TV Shows” and"Recently Added Movies" widgets stopped working after the latest update of PKC. Had to revert back to 2.8.0

Movie widgets kept working, however.

Hi All,

Since updating to 2.8.1 I see the following error when starting up Kodi, “init() got an unexpected keyword argument ‘item’”. Any ideas?

Thx,
Ken

Yes - please share your log file: How to Report A Bug · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

@croneter

I’ve opened Error when starting up Kodi, “init() got an unexpected keyword argument ‘item’”. #886 on github and attached my log. Thx, Ken

If you think the “On Deck” widget loaded slow, try the new one called PKC On Deck (faster). This works only for movies, unfortunately, not for TV shows - blame Kodi :slightly_frowning_face:

Changelog

version 2.8.2 (beta only):

  • Add an additional, faster On Deck node for movies (for tv shows, this is impossible, unfortunately)
  • Introduce limits to the number of videos shown in PKC widgets to speed them up
  • Fix TypeError for Direct Paths: init() got an unexpected keyword argument ‘item’
  • Fix In Progress widgets being broken and tv shows showing up as completely watched
  • Update translations

2.8.2 Movie Widgets are FAST

I’ve noticed a few times now that when I first install PKC the last step of the install says,

“would you like to go to PKC settings now”

When I select yes, the PKC settings show up but instantly there is a pop up saying kodi now has to restart, so I can’t adjust any settings.
When Kodi restarts the pop up comes back and says it needs to restart again.
After the 2nd restart kodi loads and the plex sign in window comes up (user select).
Once I’ve signed in, I’m just left at the kodi home screen.

So it seems that 1st pop up saying do i want to visit settings now is a bit pointless.

Good work with the movie on deck widget, such a shame the tv show on deck widget is still slow, bloody kodi :pensive:
Hopefully this changes at some point.

Cheers
Rob

@croneter #866 is fixed with 2.8.2.

Donated to your coffee fund. I really appreciate all your work with PKC!!!

Thx again,

Ken
