PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

Theoretically any that Kodi accepts .

  • Simply go to the PKC settings, then Customize Paths
  • Deactivate the first setting Replace Plex UNC paths
  • Activate the second setting
  • Then plug in any protocol you’d like to try into the Replace ... fields, e.g. nfs://SERVER/ - simply replacing the smb://-parts
  • Then reset the Kodi database in the Advanced section of the settings, hitting YES, then NO

Thank you for the replay. It working (almost).
its now replacing to:
davs://USERNAME:PASSWORD@domain.com:port/

but now I have the problem. I need to escape the characters in the path. But not the “@” “:” in the replace path.
Is there a option for that?

That’s a bug. Hopefully fixed with the next PKC beta version, see here: Correctly escape URLs for Direct Paths by croneter · Pull Request #990 · croneter/PlexKodiConnect · GitHub

Does this integrate the PVR & Live TV streaming (from HDHR) functionality into Kodi?

No, you have to run a separate PVR backend like tvheadend, nextpvr, mediaportal etc. You can run https://kodi.wiki/view/HDHomeRun

@croneter

Any chance you can add PVR and Live TV? I think a lot of people got Plex Pass for PVR (i did) but Kodi is a far better front end.

Thx

I doubt that’s going to happen bro. A very small amount of people actually use Plex for DVR and Kodi has loads of built in functionality already for this kind of thing.

@croneter … please let us know if you will add PVR, thx

@MediaHorder … I only got Plex Pass to use DVR/Live TV. I haven’t found any reason to pay for Plex, without DVR/Live TV. Kodi & Emby does all else, free that Plex does, and more as you pointed out. Free DVR options for Kodi are not very good and take a lot more configuring which is why I wanted Plex for DVR.

Currently no, there’s no plan to implement PVR. It does not figure prominently on the feature request tracking list. And even more important: I don’t have a PVR and thus can’t implement/test

It’s a 1000 times better than the crap the Plex team has thrown together and shipped

Hi, I get a sync error dialog popping up asking me if I want PKC to stop syncing or not. The problem though is that it is trying to sync with the iTunes music library that is on the PMS machine. In PKC settings I have the music library option turned off. Why is it doing that? It’s actually causing some other issues like with Artwork Beef, because now it thinks the music library has changed, and it’s trying to download artwork to a place it can’t write to. For now I will disable the music library in Plex to keep it out of PKC’s sight, but was wondering if this is a bug?

Thx

As always, I need a debug log of the issue. See here: How to Report A Bug · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

Changelog

version 2.9.7 (beta only):

  • Correctly escape URLs for Direct Paths
  • Update settings to inform user that reboot is necessary
  • Optimize code
  • Don’t migrate PKC settings if we’re dealing with a clean new PKC installation
  • Force-scan every single item in the library - seems like we could lose some recently added items otherwise when updating PKC

@croneter I’ve been using PlexKodiConnect off and on for several years. I’ve got the latest version set up on Kodi 18 with direct paths using UNC paths in the Plex server libraries, and it’s working like a dream, so thank you!
I do have a question about how PKC reports playback to the server. When I look at my Plex server dashboard, all playback through PKC shows as lasting 2 or 3 seconds, even when I watch a full movie or episode. In addition, the PKC playback shows up under user “local” instead of my username. Yet, it still properly tracks watch history under my account. I have PKC signed into my Plex account, and I don’t remember this being an issue last time I was using PKC a couple years ago. Any idea why this is happening?

EDIT: Also, FYI, in Tautulli, the playback shows the correct time, but it still shows the user as “local.”

You’re talking about Plex Web and the dashboard of the pms, I guess? Mine shows playback progress correctly. Yours disappears after 2-3 seconds, so plexkodiconnect does not seem to be playing anything? Or is progress stuck at 2-3 seconds? Please open a ticket  How to Report A Bug · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

Hi everybody

Beside my Firestick 4k and a Nvidia Shield TV I own a Acemax X96S Amlogic HDMI Android Stick with 4GB RAM. This stick is used for the car entertainment System I plugged together for my 3 Kids.

The whole Setup with Kodi as Launcher works well and PKC is also able to connect my Plex Mediaserver from everywhere when using my Mobile Phone as Hotspot. PKC is configured to Force Transcode to 480p. As you can imagine the mobile signal isn’t always perfect and sometimes it looses the connectivity at all for a few seconds. But overall its working allready pretty ok.

I played around with all the buffering/cache Settings in Kodi advancedsettings.xml only to realize that those settings seem not to effect the PKC Playback (addon path) in any way.

On the other side my Mediaserver transcode buffer is set to 300s. My idea was that this 300s could probably be buffered to my Kodi HDMI Stick as well.

Does anybody have a working solution to cache/buffer the transcoded Playback on Kodi Side?

Thx a lot

Regards,

Dom

PS: I know that having an android stick would make it quite simple to install the Plex Android App. However my goal would be to use only Kodi if possible as Kodi also has a completely function Zattoo Plugin to watch Live TV when on the road. A one software solution would be very nice and it offers me the possibility to user Yatze on my phone to control the whole thing while sintting on a front seat.

I know this question is not directly related to PlexKodiConnect but is anyone aware if Kodi is ever going to change their restrictions on home menu items so that we can have multiple Movies/TV shows libraries/sections without barfing with nodes with each skin on each Kodi instance etc etc

It gets really tedious on multiple clients with many libraries/sections…
