PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I do not have a Plex pass, so I do not have access to the Plex trailers.
Therefore I guess I do not have the trailer button. (Skin support it)

But if i add my movie folder as a normal source by Kodi (without the Plex server) Kodi fetches all the metadata from the internet including trailers. So for me it would be a great feature if Kodi could add all the normal metadata by my flex server and trailers for example with the Kodi agents.

Would this be possible?

Implementing this would circumvent Plex trailers altogether, in effect giving people a reason to not buy a Plex pass. I like Plex. A lot. I bought a Plex pass, partially to support Plex.
Please understand if I do not think that this is a good idea…

Hello,
On my primary system (dedicated windows 10 PC attached to a TV) i have no issue whatsoever with pkc. It works perfectly with my kodi install (jarvis 16.1).

on that system, it is using the local drive info for the libraries. so for example, my movie library is at f:\shared2\movies

now, going over to my laptop, i’m running into issues with seeing my files.

I can communicate fine with the server, I was previously using plexbmc.

now, in settings, i’ve enabled the “replace plex paths” and put in the following:
original: f:\shared2\movies
replace with: smb://the IP address of my media computer/shared2/movies

Now, when I sync everything shows up. But when I try to play, it says that the “item isn’t found, do I want to remove it.”

When I look at the movie info, i see that he path is still listed as the original (not sure if this is supposed to change).

So, i’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Additional:
I removed and reinstalled and now, upon initial sync, I am getting “please verify the path”

I guess my basic question is if I can even do this? It seems that no matter what I’m doing, it is looking for the original path which is only accessible from the server.

guys, I have a question.
Is it possible to combine multiple libraries?
I have one plex on my home nas, and another plex library on my dedi server. Both using same user.
Can all movies be combined? In plexkodi I can only select one library at a time.
Thanks

You need to tell windows that you would like to share your plex folders on the network first, otherwise they won’t be accessible for anyone.

This might help: http://kodi.wiki/view/SMB/Windows

No, currently impossible.

However, do setup a dedicated kodi profile for each plex server, just like Several Plex Users · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

@croneter Any plans to add media deletion? This would be amazing, thanks!

thanks, I dont have a plex pass, but i managed to create 2 profiles on kodi, and it works.
thanks.

each of my media folders are already being shared on my local network.

f:\shared2\movies on my ‘server’ is //serverIP/shared2/movies from all other systems.

Make sure you have your credentials set in the plugin. When asked for the servername or IP make sure only enter its name: my.server.home.com or its IP.

On my system I did the following: I had a look at the properties of one of my movies in plex web. There you will see the path plex sees for your movie. In your case that should be something like:
f:\shared2\movies\Fightclub\Flightclub.mkv

Then you look at your share and find the same file, it could be something like:
\\serverIP\shared2\movies\Fightclub\Fightclub.mkv

Use this mapping to determine what is different in the two paths, which gives you the string that needs to be replaced. In the above the subpath \shared2\movies\Fightclub\Fightclub.mkv doesn’t change, so you need to replace:
f:\ with \\serverIP\

I just installed this and it’s really nice. One quick question: is there any way to have it group multiple episodes from the same show under “TV Shows - Recently Added” widget? Otherwise when you add a season you end up with 20+ new items so it makes it unweildly to find episodes of other shows that were recently added. I was previously using PlexBMC with the Amber skin and it had this feature.

@croneter any plans on making the “plex-channels” working on kodi also?

(My apologies if you are not meant to post this.) I’ve been using PKC almost since day one and wanted to say thanks for the amazing work, but I had trouble finding the donation link at first. Just to make it easier for anyone else that may want to buy @Croneter a coffee, here it is

This has probably been asked but searching hasn’t worked for me at all and I see no mention in the wiki. Is there any way to increase the maximum connections allowed on the plex server side? I installed PKC and it immediately caused my plex server to become unresponsive during its initial library scan. I’m running my plex server on an E5-2680v3 with 128GB of ram so i’m not really sure whats going on outside of some tuning i need to do? Thanks!

About time for an update. PKC received a big overhaul on the PMS connection side. Looking forward to your feedback…

Try lowering both Limit artwork cache threads and Limit download sync threads in the PKC settings under sync options

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. I’m mostly curious why I would need to lower these though? If my hardware cannot handle the defaults i’m very curious what can?

OK, I made a small mess. I have PKC set up with spmc and I’m using the spmc database rather than the plex library. I had a show with multiple copies of episodes that I cleaned up by deleting the duplicates. However it appears that PKC wrote episode that I deleted to the spmc database.
So, if I try to play the episode in SPMC it says the file is now missing.
I tried removing the episode from the spmc database.
How do I get PKC to add it back?

Further to this: Because I couldn’t get the episode to write back I deleted the entire show from the spmc database. So I guess my question is now how do I get PKC to write back the entire show.

Just updated to v1.2.0. Running SPMC 16.3 on Shield. Did a database reset after the upgrade and now artwork won’t download (discart, clear logos, etc.) Artwork that is supplied by the Plex server is fine, just the artwork that PKC adds isnt downloading. It was working flawlessly in the previous version.
