Quick question - play from beginning doesn’t work for me for any movie that I try? It always resumes from where it left off.
Also, where do I turn off trailer play?

I just started playing with the plugin and like it so far. I really want the ability to delete files. Any idea when that might get implemented?
PKC is logging everything to PlexPy in terms of Movies / TV Shows but it’s not for music. Is there a general reason for that or will you need to see logs?

In the PlexKodiConnect settings → playback → enable plex trailers (plex pass needed)

This works for me. You could check your PlexPy settings. Perhaps this is the cause of your problem:

@plakna Thanks but I checked that as well and it was already enabled. I disabled, restarted PlexPy and re-enabled again but it still not logging music. I even tried a full reset of PKC with no success.
PlexPy will log music through other platforms / applications, just not PKC for some reason. @croneter will you want to see logs for this or do you know of any reason why it is not logging music?
KodiPlexConnect seems to be working great for me! I use the workaround with one profile per plex server to allow two remote plex servers. The syncing is pretty slow on my RPI 3b but otherwise great.
One little issue though, the “Choose subtitle stream” dialogue that pops up before playing a stream blocks the fancy browsing interface of the Kore remote. (using ony the virtual remote buttons work) .
Is there a way to disable subtitles (I very rarely need them) or set a default? The Kodi settings doesnt seem to change anything.
Just tested the Plex Android app which shows the same behaviour. I can connect to KodiPlexConnect and browse streams but when I hit play the “Choose subtitles stream” dialogue blocks the interface of the Plex app as well.
I have to use ir-remote/keyboard on my 10ft device to select a subtitles option to play the stream.
Indeed I do :-). Many thanks for the coffees guys! ![]()

Hi,
I just installed PKC, and I have a problem… I cannot have PKC to sync my Plex Photo library. But it syncs everything else perfecly. How should I do to have it working?
Photos do not get synched, Kodi will simply navigate directly to a Plex photo “folder”. In Kodi, try navigating to Pictures, Add-ons, PlexKodiConnect. Then you should see a folder named after your picture library. You can make a shortcut on your Kodi homescreen pointing directly to that folder to reduce the navigational hassle.

Unfortunately, play from beginning does not work if you’re on the Kodi homescreen (so you haven’t navigated into a certain library). It’s impossible for PKC to tell whether you pushed “play from beginning” or “resume” on the Kodi side of things :-(. My guess is that most people would want to resume…

Currently, PKC has issues telling the Plex media server or other Plex clients what MUSIC currently plays (video is fine). PlexPy is probably also affected by this. I’m working on this, and logs are currently not needed, thanks…

PlexKodiConnect is pretty awesome. The only negative I can find is when relating to artwork things like Artist Slideshow and Cdart downloader don’t work. It always only uses the artwork set on the PMS.
Is there any way around this?
For instance my music, I like to have artist slideshow playing (via Aeon Nox Silo skin) when music is playing. If I add my music locally and use Cdart manager/downloader it works…but when using my Plex Library…no art gets downloaded except the main art set via Plex.
Any workarounds for that? The same goes for things like Movie/Tv Show extrafanart…nothing shows in Kodi/PlexKodiconnect except the art used by Plex.
I am having a hard time finding a good balance. Plex on it’s own is smooth, fast but less features. Kodi is feature rich but requires it’s own install of each and no mobile options.
So Kodi+Plex+PlexKodiConnect = an almost perfect mix of all worlds, including centralized media, mobile playing of the media and customization, but the downside is the lack of control on artwork.
Any help would be appreciated, or maybe I just can’t have it all and need to decide to just use normal Kodi with all the art I want or use the combo and just not have so much extra art.
Thanks in advance sorry for long post.

Thanks! I took the liberty to condense your post :-). Are you using direct paths or native paths? Switching might help.

I have been trying to use the default method, as I didn’t understand what the difference was. Can you elaborate?
For reference I have 3 computers in my home.
HTPC - Houses my Plex Media Server
Gaming/General use - Where I am running Kodi
Server - Where my media is located
So using local network HTPC pulls the media from server.
(been reading this: Create new page · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub)
Sounds like Direct is what I want…will have to try it tonight after work. Hopefully goes without a hitch.
Looks like the tricky part is I need to convert my media to SMB share instead of just accessing it on the network as I do now. (Currently I access it like “MY-PC\Folders\Media” so I guess I will try that SMB mode. Then I will have to reimport all my media into PMS, then try to change my PlexKodiConnect to direct)
Actually maybe not so tricky, just drop my homegroup then share my drives or folders. Then redo my Plex library with the SMB path instead of the old Network path. If I understand this will allow Kod/KodiPlexConnect to use add-ons as Kodi normally would (such as cdartdownloader, etc) ?
Sorry for another long winded post ![]()
(Do I even need to create SMB shares to use direct? I am currently using network path (no homegroup just local network) would that be considered a direct path ( I.e. "\HTPC\Tv Shows" )
Furthemore could I Just enable directplay?
Does this not work with Krypton Alpha 3?
I just tried a clean install, but I get a sync cancelled, current version unsupported error.

See @croneter post about half way down on this page:
The database number used in Kodi keeps changing so until @croneter updates the number on his end you need to edit it manually.

Screenshots coming up. Showing this using the Kore remote on Android, same behaviour using the Plex app.
On Android phone pressing play after finding a stream you want to watch. Nothing happens.
Same time at “TV”. A dialogue has popped up.
Switching Kore to Remote to try to use the dialogue. Note that it’s suddenly “Connecting”. Despite this connecting business I can still move the selection using up and down buttons on the phone screen. I cannot activate the selection however.
Using the physical ir remote or keyboard I can select and activate a subtitle stream which unlocks the Kore remote and we get the correct interface as below.
Switching to the other view also works
The Plex Android app results in a similar lock which has to be resolved in the same manner. It seems the “Choose Subtitle Stream” dialogue blocks remote connections somehow.
I switched to direct and extraanart is now working for TV and Movies, but artist slideshow is still not working… Cdart downloads all the art locally but it doesn’t seem to get applied to anything.

Yeah, Kodi music is really a bit of a hassle from a programmer’s perspective :-(. Opened a new issue on Github: Plex Music and PKC direct path issues · Issue #84 · croneter/PlexKodiConnect · GitHub

Sorry to tell you that I can’t do anything for both the Kore remote or the Plex Android remote - they’re not really in my sphere of influence ;-). All PKC does is show a standard Kodi popup…
Have you tried the Kodi Android remote “Yatse”?

I just decided to either not do music or just go with one fanart. Music is a majoy pain.

Fair enought. Just though I’d flag it for you. Elsewhere it was hinted that “It shouldn’t be a list” I didn’t query further and haven’t read any Kodi docs to know correct design patterns. Just thought the behaviour with loosing connection only on that specific dialogue sounded like a bug.
Does anyone use Plex AND Kodi (without PleXBMC or PKC) ?
I love PKC but since there are issues with some things (like music library is jacked up) I thoguth I might just use normal Kodi on my computers, then just keep the Plex Media Server running for my mobile devices.
