PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

Nat,

I sure hope they do, since it is such a promising platform for PMS. I did not mention before that my PMS machine is running Windows 8.1, with PMS running as a service using the service wrapper by cjmurph.

Regards,

Bart

so right. PMS on shield is just born too soon.
thought that with SMB shares (what you have with your NAS), PMS can’t “see” folders changes and so new files… (this topic, not only about shield → https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/226579/library-scanning-on-change-not-working )
Just tried to uncheck both settings about metadata refreshing in PMS settings to avoid those new scans of “old” movies in PKC. It takes a lot of time during kodi starts and then a long time to see the real “new” movies… sorry for my english

Nat,

I guess I am just lucky then, as I said, my PMS machine is running Windows 8.1, and in all my libraries, the paths to the media folders are defined as UNC paths (“\server\folder”). I just tried adding two new music albums, and the PMS machine updated the library within 2 minutes of me adding the albums.

I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, my NAS is Synology.

Regards,

Bart

EDIT: Your information adn the link you shared got me thinking and wondering, and after some testing I found that the automatic update works “partially” in my setup. Whenever I add a new folder within the media folders that compose my Plex libraries (for example, a new movie, since I keep each in its own folder, a new TV Show, or an album by an artist that I did not have any music for), then the update is automatic.

If it’s a subfolder addition or a file change within a folder, this does not get picked up automatically. So, in my case, whenever I add a new tv show episode, or an album by an artist for whom I already had some music, this does not get picked up automatically.

Nothing I can do in terms of music, so I am manually updating that library now that I know what doesn’t happen automatically. For TV show episodes, since I download them using a combination of SickBeard/Sabnzbd, I just set the configuration in SickBeard to update Plex’s library after a download, so now those are getting picked up right after I add them.

Sorry for any confusion before, and thank you for prompting me to look into this.

I’m looking to tidy up my media collection.
Would PlexKodiConnect work with the Janitor addon for Kodi?

Good idea :-). But unfortunately no, this does not work. An additional PKC context menu item might be implemented in the future to delete a specific movie/episode from your PMS. But that will work completely differently to Kodi usually deleting stuff…

It would be great to have a popup at the end of a movie/TV Episode or Season with an option to delete or archive.
Would the Plex-Cleaner script work?

Really really looking forward to this feature (hippojay’s solution had it, but it broke in other ways). I generally keep only movies in long term storage and delete TV episodes immediately after viewing. Ruins the magic when I have to close Kodi and go manually delete the file like a philistine.

Would the Plex-Cleaner script work?
GitHub - ngovil21/Plex-Cleaner: A script to clean up movies and episodes in Plex Media Server

Sorry, but nothing works currently. It’s also extremely unlikely that “third party scripts/addons” will ever work and let you delete Plex media through PKC.

I must have misunderstood. I thought the Plex-Cleaner script ran on the Plex server and wouldn’t affect PKC?

Would it be possible to add a “Play Transcoded” option in the selected file menu (like in PlexBMC). I would like to keep Direct Play as the default option, but some files don’t play right on all of my devices and having a quick menu option to play the selected item with transcoding would make it less of a hassle. Currently I have to change the preferred playback option in PKC config to force transcode.

Ouh, you’re right, my bad - thought it was a kodi plugin :-).
Well in that case the script should work. PKC is a Plex client like any other. Let us know once you’ve tried

Hi, I currently have 2 servers (one VPS & one Local) will PlexKodiConnect be able to support 2 Plex Servers?

Many Thanks

The Wiki almost always helps

Ah, Sorry, I didn’t make myself clear, 2 profiles are not viable for me as I would like to search both servers for media at the same time (single search) like I can with OpenPHT So I guess it would not be possible with PlexKodiConnect?

No, unfortunately not. As explained in the wiki, being connected to 2 PMS at the same time leads to problems with the way PKC works.

@croneter could you update the krypton video db version in utils.py to 107? That is the version in the first alpha release of kodi 17.

Cheers

@croneter Currently Transcoding breaks subtitles, I’d really appreciate it if a fix comes anytime soon. Thank you.

Thanks for the link, i have done it manually but thought since it was so trivial and more than likely the final video db bump (since it’s in alpha) it would be worth getting in ASAP. The target should be what is stated here: http://kodi.wiki/view/database_versions rather than what users of a particular OS version (imho)

Hi,
I just installed PKC, and I have a problem… I cannot have PKC to sync my Plex Photo library. But it syncs everything else perfecly. How should I do to have it working?
