Plexmatch one particular season to another show - should this work?

TVDB merged two shows together, and I’m trying to see if I can get Plex to tease them apart without manually reorganizing episode files. Seasons 2-4 belong to the named show (Show A), while Season 1 belongs in Show B (which currently doesn’t exist in the library).

With .plexmatch files, I’ve managed to:

  • Make season 1 from Show B go away (using Show B’s TmdbId)
  • Make seasons 2-4 appear as seasons 1-3 of Show A (using pattern directives to offset -1, since season number is included in all the filenames)

Show B, however, is still not showing up in the library. Shouldn’t it, since I just assigned 7 episodes to it?

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7571
Player Version#: 4.116.1

Can you provide show names? there are several things that might be tryable. Or you might be SOL.

Didn’t know Tryable did product testing of Plex?

Never heard of them before you said something. I was using the term tryable is in something that can be tried not referring to a company.

Oh, so you meant Triable

Show A = The New York Times Presents (tmdb-105763)
Show B = The Weekly (tmdb-79413)

Tvdb combined them under the first title (tvdb-362237)

The VICE TV “Icons Unearthed” series pose a similar issue, as Tmdb lists each run (dedicated to a single property - Star Wars, Simpsons, etc.) as an independent series, whereas Tvdb treats them as seasons of a single “Icons Unearthed” show.

Either site can be “right”, I just need things correctly identified in Plex and would prefer to accomplish it without downgrading to the legacy scanner/agents or manually moving files around.

Most of my suggestions would involve spitting them into 2 folders
