i’ve been using plex for quite a while now but only to watch movies, live shows and listen to music, so nothing with seasons etc, but then i decided to watch one of my favorite anime on plex and for that i did the exact same process i did to upload my movies and musics on the platform - created a new file to create an “anime section”, then i pasted the file with the episodes properly divided into their seasons to make sure it was properly organized by the server. for the sake to be clear, the anime in question is K-ON!, witch have 2 season - the first with 13 episodes and the second with 24 and 3 special episodes + a movie.
and then that’s the problem. when i was about to start watching it using the TV app, it only displayed wrongly a 23-episodes 1st season, and when i looked up the files it was using, it mixed all the episodes and some were using to files at the same time. when i searched on the matching library, it only showed me the show that was already matched, witch was correct, but it only displayed of one season.
i guess my problem here is that the match library doesn’t have all the seasons that i need and it causes the files to overlap each other and crash, even if i unmatch with the show on plex library or if they are properly named and divided on my laptop. then my question is: is that possible to request the other season to be added? can it be solved in any other way? i mean i could totally only watch it on my laptop but i don’t want to stress about it again if i ever happen to encounter that problem again
Best start verifying your file names and folder organization. Plex is more relying on that for tv based content compared to movies – therefore it’s more strict about them.
While doing that… also double-check that show is listed according to your structure on TheTVDb or The Movie Database. From what I can find, the show is listed differently on those two repositories…
Example naming:
TV Shows <- the folder linked to your tv-show library
K-On! (2009) <- the release year is optional but can help matching
Season 01
K-On! (2009) - s01e01 - Abolition of the Club!.ext
K-On! (2009) - s01e02.ext
K-On! (2009) - s01e03.ext
...
Where .ext is a placeholder for the actual file extension. Episode titles in file names aren’t used by Plex and can therefore be ignored – sometimes it can help to keep them around… especially if the order varies on the sources used by Plex.
As for the different episode orders…
It appears you picked a “tricky” one to start as that show has quite a number of different orders.
Double-check which one fits your needs when naming the files.
Once you added the show to your library, edit the show entry () and set the applicable order (Advanced > Episode ordering).
