Confused matching after manual match

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457
Player Version#: 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8

I have two shows which are shot in different times and have slightly similar names.
“Agatha Christie’s Marple”
“Miss Marple”

The first is six seasons, the second is two.
However, at first automated detection, Plex placed both in the same show “Agatha Christie’s Marple” and shows the known number 2 in some episodes as if they were different versions of the same video.

I used a split and that worked slightly. It correctly placed all the “Agatha Christie’s Marple” episodes in one show, and made a new show.
However, this is where it gets interesting.
The new show had six seasons.
I used a Fix Match and correctly chose the 1984 show “Miss Marple” which fixed the names, posters and numbers of episodes, however it retained the six seasons.
Now this show has the correct two first seasons, and seasons 3 through 6 are from the other show.
Checking on Get Info from the episodes I see that the files in the first two seasons are in the “Videos\series\Agatha Christie’s Marple” path, while the files in seasons 3 through 6 are in the “Videos\series\Miss Marple” path.

Unmatching and redoing the Fix Match doesn’t help.

Any ideas?

Looks like you need to Split again.

A TV Show Library\

.............Miss Marple - S01E01.mp4

..........Agatha Christie's Marple - S01E01.mp4

Note:

That worked instantly for two separate shows - however - Plex doesn’t know exactly which one to go to when you select one from the web app.

That might change after a deep analysis (or Voodoo Chant).

I always try the exact names and structures first.
I haven’t ever run into a confused Plex in this way.

Perhaps another Split -as Otto Suggested - is better for this one (but I didn’t get a Merge with the naming/structuring above).

If the above mix-up is the result of repeated renaming and rescanning, it is perhaps best to perform the Plex Dance.

Absolutely.

If the mix-up is TVDB in the process of ‘re-inventing’ Miss Marple… oh my.

Let me see what TMDB can do with it…
(TMDB does work - a little sparse on the Actors)
(Plex is still having difficulty telling these two shows apart - never seen that before)

Add the year to the folder (YYYY)…

There is no (YEAR) in the names at TVDB.

Adding a (YEAR) Field to a Show Name that doesn’t require it - has been found to fail 100% of the time - so far:

The Plex Dance did not work.
The names are already set.
All files moved.
Rescan.
empty trash.
Copy back
Scan
Miss Marple still has 6 seasons and the 3-6 are from Agatha’s series…

You missed Clean Bundles.

If you don’t do ALL of The Plex Dance - it don’t work.

Well I click on the Library actions in the knowledge base (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions?_ga=2.210169041.536452231.1583342176-1664779066.1579549701) and there is no “clean” or “bundles” word in it.
There is no word like this in the linked article from above.
Searching in the forum bring up a topic “proper way to move around files” and in there it is mentioned once but it only says to do it, not how.
Looking at the Libraries in Plex I see the Delete and the Empty Trash but not the Clean Bundles option.
Any specific guidance in how to do this?

Settings/Troubleshooting is one, but I think I like the way they hid it here better (click More - then keep drillin’):

at least they’re all in a herd - but camouflaged perfectly so they’ll not be seen by predators.

Finally…

Thank you very much!!
