I use a Netgear ReadyNAS 314, I am currently running software
plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries_1.14.1.5488-cc260c476_amd64.deb of 102,532 KB?
I notice the new recommended software is now
plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2_amd64.deb of only 76,536 KB?
This is a lot smaller in file size and it doesn’t have the -ros6-binaries_in the file name so I am worried that if I try to upgrade to this version it might not be compatible with my NAS?
Can someone please explain why the later software file is so much smaller? or am I missing something here?
Thanks
Starting from PMS 1.15.x Plex introduced a new programming format for PMS resulting in a much smaller PMS install file. The older pre-1.15.x PMS needs to be uninstalled before installing the a post 1.15.x version.
If you want to install PMS 1.16.3.1402 then you must uninstall 1.14.1.5488 first.
Personally I would stay with 1.14.1.5488 as it was the last version that everything worked in the readyNAS admin.
Yes if I uninstall it I’d be worry about losing my library as it’s very large and would take me days of effort to rebuild it
Is it possible to backup your library then delete everything and reinstall 1.14.1.5488 and restore your libraries?
i had to do it the hard way and it took a full day but at least it works now
I wouldn’t know how to start his is installed on a NAS drive so I would need instructions on how I backup and restore the library?
Sorry I have no idea either. Maybe start a new topic “How do I backup and restore my PMS Library on netgear ReadyNAS” or similar.
