Plexmediaserver no longer accessible local net

Yesterday I had a power outage and afterward Plexmediaserver is showing ‘offline’ on both my local net and remote. There have been no infrastructure changes. Plexmediaserver is available in DLNA on Roku clients, which means I am able to access media. The server is up and running. However, I am unable to access features such as live tv & dvr, and as mentioned the server shows that it is offline in all the client apps, including web interface. Notably, ssl connections are failing in the web.

The ‘Plex Media Server.log’ doesn’t appear to have any errors.

How do I debug this? It doesn’t appear to be a network problem.

Does this issue persist after stopping the PMS, rebooting the machine and starting PMS again?

When you write about the server not being available via the web interface… are you accessing it through its local IP address (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same machine, http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web otherwise)?

Would you mind sharing those server logs of yours?

I am able to access it locally via the URL you mentioned, but it only shows me the Plex media sources. I am happy to share the log. I have it set to DEBUG from previously. Do you prefer I grep out the DEBUG lines and paste it here or is there a way to upload a file?

From what you describe it sounds like your server is no longer able to access the original server configuration – e.g. this could happen if the files are somehow broken / lost; not sure if the underlying database could be so corrupted it’s no longer working.

This kind of things can happen if the server is interrupted externally (e.g. due to a power surge).

Can you verify the underlying server data directory is still “in place” and accessible to your PMS? If it’s not, the logs will be of little help.

The server is up, the storage is present. I know this because DLNA is working still, so I can access media via the PlexServer DNLA interface from my Roku devices (but not iphone/web).

On Roku, iphone, whatever, the server keeps bouncing from offline to not offline.

Any solution to this issue?

I’m also having this issue right now, I can view content on android and roku, but not via the web player. Also I have since added content to the folder structure but the server doesn’t update to include the latest items. Metadata is updated so my watch history matches on my roku and android and each will update the other. Very weird…
