Plex server 1.15.0.647 broke my setup

Server Version#:1.15.0.647
Player Version#:
Ubuntu 16.04 - up to date

So I installed plex media server last night and now I cannot access the server locally or from any other device. How do I go about figuring out what is not working. It looks like the service is running but I do not see an y log entries from todays date

jtrauger@jtrauger-GA-78LMT-S2P:~ systemctl status plexmediaserver ● plexmediaserver.service - Plex Media Server Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service; enabled; vendor Active: active (running) since Thu 2019-02-07 15:45:55 EST; 14min ago Process: 1824 ExecStartPre=/bin/sh -c /usr/bin/test -d "{PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_AP
Main PID: 1855 (sh)
CGroup: /system.slice/plexmediaserver.service
├─1855 /bin/sh -c PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_INFO_VENDOR="$(grep ^NAME= /etc/
└─1869 /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Server

When i try to access the server locally, i.e. http://localhost:32400/web

it says " This site can’t be reached

localhost refused to connect."

All was working just prior to update :frowning:

what does http://localhost:32400/manage have to say? is this a headless remote box? Set up a ssh tunnel.

this is an ubuntu server machine with monitor, keyboard etc. I do not need to remote in

http://localhost:32400/manage - says same thing
" This site can’t be reached

localhost refused to connect."

is the service running? where is it listening? what do the logs say?

i think my first post indicates that the service is running unless you can suggest a different command:
jtrauger@jtrauger-GA-78LMT-S2P:~ systemctl status plexmediaserver ● plexmediaserver.service - Plex Media Server Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service; enabled; vendor Active: active (running) since Thu 2019-02-07 15:45:55 EST; 14min ago Process: 1824 ExecStartPre=/bin/sh -c /usr/bin/test -d “{PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_AP
Main PID: 1855 (sh)
CGroup: /system.slice/plexmediaserver.service
├─1855 /bin/sh -c PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_INFO_VENDOR=”$(grep ^NAME= /etc/
└─1869 /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Server

As far as logs, I do not see any entries from today, only prior to update

unless you changed ports; what does this say ‘lsof -i | grep 32400’ ?

Please stop PMS (yes it is running)

sudo tar cfz /tmp/Logs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs"

Please attach the tarball here.

I have not changed ports, so with that command it just hangs and does not respond

Chuck is proper Plex. Please listen to their requests.

I’m just a dude, man.

Logs.tar.gz (6.1 MB)

Thank you . Give me a few minutes to review please.

thx, for trying to help

also, i tried to revert back to 1.14… and then it did not work either

It’s been giving me transcoder errors every few minutes. I was able to roll back successfully and haven’t had issues since. There’s definitely an issue with this update. Sorry to hear rolling back didn’t fix your issue. I’d help, but I use Windows, not Linux :frowning:

is what I see in the log. You’re off by a full day.

computer says 2/7 and so does the date on the log tar file.

Correct, I see that too.

Now please do

sudo journalctl -xe | grep -i plex and look for today’s timestamps**

The additional details from systemd will be there.

jtrauger@jtrauger-GA-78LMT-S2P:~$ sudo journalctl -xe | grep -i plex

one last step before being ugly.

systemctl restart plexmediaserver

just hangs
