Looking to have PlexPass perks for all users connected to my Plex server. If the server has a lifetime PlexPass, then all users connecting to that server should get those features without them requiring to purchase a pass of their own.
This is solely regarding sharing library’s to a personal Plex account and not Plex Home users. As Plex Home users can already use these features such as Skipping intros and credits.
If a user connect to a server that does not have a Plex pass then the user should be able to purchase the remote streaming or pay for their own Plex pass.
Since they added the Remote Watch pass requirement… But let users of Plex Pass-owning servers bypass that requirement… It would be super decent of them if they also extended our users the courtesy of intro/credit skipping too.
No one who has remote watch access is upgrading to a Pass just to skip credits. I feel like there is no money on the table here to worry about, but a lot of good will to be generated.
Well, if we’re talking about someone who is a server owner and has only a Remote Watch Pass, then in addition to Skip Intro/Credits upgrading to a Plex Pass would also give them:
Hardware Transcoding.
Downloads for offline use.
The Plex Pass Extras for media.
DVR (if they have Live TV set up)
If the Remote Pass holder is just a user they don’t need it to begin with if the server admin has a Plex Pass and they don’t connect to any other servers, but getting a Plex Pass would still get them Downloads (they only get grandfathered on that if they were connected to the server of the Plex Pass holder before the rules change).
But I do agree that making two parties pay for Skip Intro/Credits is dumb. The server is still marking out the segments even if the server admin doesn’t have a pass to use them, so no reason a separate user couldn’t use them even if the server owner cannot.
