No purchasing! Just cataloguing and playing/reading
Already +1ād this, but just checking in to see if there were any updates on this. Have a long road trip coming up and was hoping maybe there was some activity; but alas, no.
I agree. No purchassing.
I have my own content, that I want to be able to read, view and listen to.
Iāll go even one further. I actually donāt think that Plex needs access to the internet. Itās a player and an organizer. If you need it outside of your home, you can always use a VPN to your home.
It just needs to play the content to a machine.
Thatās the problem with the Plex add in on letās say Sonos. I donāt need an app that needs a connection to the internet so it can send and gather my data to a third party thatās going to sell it. No deals with Amazon. Amazon are already doing the same with Sonos, and that makes me wonder what wil happen when you have a Plex add in on a Sonos system.
Just a player and organizer for my media, so I can enjoy it on every machine I have.
Thatās a great idea, and it will be cool for my Manga collection
I think it would work great with they system I have of using Mylar to find and download my comics if Plex would organize and allow for syncing of unread comics to my devices for travel.

How is you Manga collections stored? .cbz? .rar? and where have you been going to get them I have a hard time finding Manga in good formats.
Any news ?
For me, for the moment, I use another server with Ubooquity but it would be fantastic to have this kind of feature directly in Plex.
Will have we the hope to see appearing this feature?
It remains one of the the most wanted feature.
Best Regards.

This feature is just an evidence that Plex should be able to do
PLEX is a personnal cloud media library reader, Books are media, please add it
So sad to have seen a feature as intrusive News insteadā¦
I would find this feature extremely useful.
I have a lot of comics and teaching material in .pdf format which I could make easily accessible for my kids if this was implemented.
I would love ebook support for Plex.
Right now, I use my Google Drive and just share the ebook folder with whoever I wish to share the books with.
My internet is pretty abysmal, so I use Plex Cloud for my media. Ebooks are small, though, and even my terrible internet speeds would be able to handle people downloading books as needed from any home server I have. Instead of sharing my video Plex library with 2 other people (my siblings), Iād share ebooks with at least a dozen people (family and friends), many of whom would be new users and easy converts to Plex. If Plex were able to convert a mobi file to an epub (even using my computerā¦itās an easy conversion, wouldnāt put much strain on it at all), or any other ebook file type to another, that would be even better.
I know people use Calibre, but Iāve never liked Calibre. It has a hard time with large libraries, and itās not very aesthetically pleasing. Also, all the Calibre servers Iāve seen just show the authors and books, not any more information about them. Imagine Plex having the author with their bio, any series they wrote and single books they wrote linked to their page. Imagine being able to step through a series, like you can with episodes of a tv show. Imagine having the book cover right there (we do judge books by their covers), and the blurb from the back of the book right there. Imagine being easily able to go from a book you just finished reading, to seeing a suggestion at the bottom of the page for a similar book you might like. Yeah, I know, I can go to GoodReads or LibraryThing for all of that information, but how much more amazing would it be if I could get it all in one place (the information as well as the ability to download the book in the format I need).
So glad I read through this thread and realized that 1) books in Plex is not a new idea (this thread started in 2013) and 2) I am not alone in my desire to have books in Plex. In the end, I want Plex to be my one-stop-shop for everything (all of my digital media), so books (and comics) are the next logical step.

Like the idea and glad I am not alone, and with the difficulty syncing libraries between calibre and the iPad or comicrack and the iPad this would be a reasonable work around. even integration with both would be a pleasant surprise (or compatible use of databases)
Iām in. I even created a duplicated thread as I missed this one.

Need!!!
I vote for this as well. I tried using plex to read my comics as images but the plex sorting feature is broken, it doesnāt sort by name so that is a lost possibility. So yes, lets aim for improvements, comics are a form of media, plex media server needs to support them!

Would be a nice features
