I vote for this as well. I tried using plex to read my comics as images but the plex sorting feature is broken, it doesn’t sort by name so that is a lost possibility. So yes, lets aim for improvements, comics are a form of media, plex media server needs to support them!
There is a Comics Channel that a Plex User created a year or two ago. It works for the most part. It doesn’t collect metadata, or anything like that, but it does work on most comics for reading them. I have it installed, but I don’t use it much, and haven’t in a while, but I believe it is still functional. I am still using Ubooquity to read comics from a Server. But I am definitely still looking for something more comprehensive for both my eComics and eBooks. Not holding my breath for Plex to do it, though it would simplify my life a little bit. lol…
This would really complete the ‘media’ part of Plex. I am missing this for a very long time and would really love to see this being added to the Plex environment.
I would definitely be happy with even the option to host books/comics with a thumbnail as cover art and “Sync” that just dumps the file on my phone in a well-known location so I can read it with another application. Syncing bookmarks etc would be nice, but don’t let implementing a full-on document reader stop you from implementing simple, minimal support.
I would have thought eComics would already have been integrated to Plex. Plex can already handle them, as all they are is image files in a compressed container, and Plex photo section can already do that. They just need to pretty it up a little, and create an Agent to to strip metadata. This seems like a no brainer to add if they choose to.
eBooks will need the creation of some new systems, and there are a number of different eBook formats in use by many, so that makes things a bit tougher too. But certainly not impossible, and to me, the benefit of including it into Plex far exceeds any negatives.
I hope they prove me wrong, sooner than later, but I’ve kind of given up hope on Plex ever doing this. I think it’s a mistake on their part, but it is their choice, as much as I dislike their seeming indifference to this request.
I would love eBook integration into PLEX as well. As a start, it would be good if PLEX can index the books and I can download them to my PC/Android and view them with a local reader. This will just help organize and find books/pdf’s, etc that I have but can’t find.

I don’t see the point in adding in ebook, CBR, and PDFs into Plex. There already is a solution for reading content. I use YACReader. Works well.
The vision of Plex is to allow you to view all your media anywhere in the world. They state this in their what is Plex section on their webpage. A lot of people want this and would like to actually have all of their media supported. That is why some of the oldest and still most active feature request threads are for audiobooks and “print” book
Personally I definitely want this and I do not want to have to mess with running multiple server solutions on my server for different media types. It’s annoying and they can get in each other’s way at times if not configured correctly
