I create pdf scans for my criterion collection booklets and would like some way to consume this data to enhance my pms movie experience. I think this use case more germane to pms functionality, as I’m not going to read epubs on my small phone or 65" TV. Although my comics on my tv might be a neat experience, it isn’t why I bought PLEX.
After spending all weekend trying to get Ubooquity working and coming away with a barely-functional crapfest, I’m all on board for a comics solution for Plex.
Both Calibre and Ubooquity are have a decent concept in organizing and remote access (respectively) ebook type files, but neither one really ties both ends together seamlessly. That type of integration is what Plex really excels at.
Hopefully the folks at Plex is also keeping an eye on their main competitor, Emby, who is in the process of implementing ebook support. Last time I checked they had the ebook organization part implemented.

Alright I registered just to vote for this. The ONLY reason I do not have Plex is because I can’t use it for my Ebooks.
+5 logged in just top post this. You guys have made a killer app I dont think I could ever go back. This is the last big gap I have in order to have all my media in one place. Please consider taking this project on and adding this feature and keep up the good work!

Why is this needed as opposed to some other available options? The same reason I pay for plex pass, parental control. I have a lot of comics I’d love to share with my kids, and others they aren’t ready for. I could separate them into two libraries, and only share the library with what I believe they are ready for, BAM! My life just got a lot easier.

+1. Bonus points if we can associate metadata with comics or manga to tv shows or related anime (this definitely should be possible but may require a fair amount of work to build a basic framework for it)

+1 from me. Currently running rdp-calibre (server) and calibre-web (front end) in Ubuntu and works very well, however e/abook integration within Plex would free up processing power and simplify the process. Can’t see why it hasn’t been done already given the popularity of this post.
