HEY PLEX! What godvader said… c’mon guys this request is old enough that I can now RETIRE! I turned 66 last week, I can’t wait forever… can we get some reader support?
It should not be a horrible trick to display open document formatted files at the very least.
Heck I can convert them myself to whatever format you want them prepared… just tell us what…

I can’t belive ya’ll don’t already have it but I’d love this. It be great to have it like iCloud being able to sync and hand off where you are bookmarked and with the different formats being able to download or stream to your different devices as well as handle the different formats within the app mobi epub pdf etc. Audio books as well as a screen reading feature would be great to change any book into an audio book.

For anyone using Android (maybe iOS too, not sure) I would recommend CalibreSync (you can find it on the app store). It basically stores your entire Calibre library on the cloud (supports multiple services like Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.). Then you just open up the CalibreSync app and you can manage your library from any device. It works really well and the app is only a few dollars for a one time purchase.
I’m not sponsored or anything, I just really like the app, and I think it works well. It’s a good option for having a synced cloud library until Plex supports it themselves (which seems pretty unlikely at this point).

Sorry, I don’t have any updates here.
I think the same as @godvader . There are already tools on the market but they are all improvable, I think if Plex were to include a book manager it could improve existing book managers like “Delicious Library”, “Alfa eBooks Manager”, “Hamster”, “LibraryThing”, " Adobe Digital Editions", “Collectorz”, “Readerware”, “Book Crawler”, “Booknizer”, “LUCIDOR”, “Xtreme Books Manager” or “Epubor”. the inclusion of a book manager would put Plex head and shoulders above its competitors. I don’t know why Plex doesn’t try this safe bet.

When are they going to add features we want instead of features nobody needs?
The only way I can see books/comics working now is to have them in a picture library and extract the books/comics as images into folders and pretend you have books instead of images.
10 years waiting for something that should have been implemented already when the app launched.

very much would love this feature if possible in the future. i do not want to have go through everything else to set up calibre or such on my NAS. Would be so happy if devs could get this a reality

i just cancel my plexpass and wait for a book reader or maybe switch to another service like jellyfin that offer everything i need .
2778 voted, 973 reply over 9year asking a book/comic reader …still no update about that so… if you dont want to do that just unlock the damn addons , we will all install comicreader addon

Hi Yes Please try to treat Ebook/Comic like Plex amp were its a dedicated app to store organize have meta data fix the date time and what publisher or for comic be able to she series by issue # or volume do you can read in order also try adding offline reading and other data feature to help keep PDF Book nor comic organization adding premium features behind plex pass would help

from calibre to kavita, im currently on komga… many people loves (not only) the idea of “single source of truth”, or lets say, one media manager for nearly everything.

This would solve so many problems. I could share my purchased books with my family without having to teach the non tech people new tricks.
