Here, if you want to be disapointed and realize we are probably going to wait 10 more years to have this feature :
I dont understand why they are not adding it. It is the most requested feature of the feature suggestion page, and even if it was not the best reader they should at least give users the option to have it.
Iād pay $40 for a plugin like this. The investment is worth it and could put popualr e-reader giants on their heels. I also imagine it will increase interest of users who never heard of plex.
Iām running a side server that hosts exclusively books as a series of sequential images, it works pretty well, but I am feeling the burn from those images not being Compressed in their respective packages.
itās also gotta be a nightmare for the filesystem side of things, instead of one book file, itās 300+images - But it works
I, and Iām sure many others, would be happy to pay for a new plex pass subscription (Iām a lifetime purchaser) if it allowed us to vote on a selected set of features for the Plex team to work on next. That way, we can see that our subscriptions are being put into developing features that the community wants. Of course, this would come with more transparency from the dev team with more frequent updates on their progress. Iād imagine that they would receive quite a bit of funding to get some of these long time requested features implemented.
Clearly, interest in this has not gone anywhere in the past ten years. I love all the great features you have rolled out over the years - please make ebooks and comics available, too, if possible. The demand for it is obviously here to stay.
i want this so badly. books, audiobooks and comics. i donāt want to have to use something like komga or kavita. i just want to use plex. plex never should have added arcade, that made no sense. but this? this makes complete and total sense.
Is it possible to add an e-book feature? Media library movie, music, games, pictures are all there, in the addition of an e-book is perfect, personal media library is basically comprehensive!
Hey guys! As part of this weeks āPlex Fireside in the Forumsā A question around ebooks came up. I myself have only recently jumped into the forums to try and provide some answers to feature requests and where Plex stands on them. Historically these have been hard to respond to as they are all awesome in their own way, so everything ends up being left as a āmaybeā for us. That said, @McWanke and I are working on being more transparent with our users on what we will and wonāt be adding to our roadmap.
This brings me to eBooks/PDFs/Comics. While it is clear from this feature suggestion thread that many users are passionate about having all their media in Plex, I can confirm that we are not actively working on adding this as a feature in any existing client or developing a dedicated client for it. We also have no current plans to add this to our roadmap.
While this is likely not the update folk wish to hear, we still believe its better to be honest with where things are at right now, rather than silence from Plex.
May I ask what is the point of Feature Suggestions if the #1 feature request for a decade with the most votes wont even be implemented or worked on? Why even have a feature suggestion part of the forum if the votes donāt matter?
A feature like this would bring in an entirely new demographic of Plex Pass users who want to self-host comics, ebooks or have PDF support for albums in PlexAMP. This is the #1 feature request for a very good reason and I think you guys should reconsider adding this to the roadmap.
A lot of time you all at Plex add things users donāt care about and waste time on things that end up being scrapped anyway. You would have so much user support for something like this (and proper audiobook support) I just donāt understand the reason behind not adding it.
@elan imagine having the PDFs of the digital booklets that come from hi-res music downloads available to view within PlexAMP, how awesome would that be?!
I canāt think of anything else (outside of proper audiobook support) that would be such a great addition to the Plex ecosystem. Letās make it happen devs!
