Plexstick? Can such a thing be done?

Server Version#:1.41.2.9200
Player Version#:N/A

Is there a device similar to a firestick (meaning, it’s a small dongle that plugs directly into an hdmi port on my tv), that does nothing but run the plex client upon startup with no intervening screens?

Example - firesticks (or tv itself) always want to show a top screen (ie. monetization) of things I dont want to see, like movies available on the firestick, other apps, etc. I have to select the plex app first. I want it to boot up into the plex app and nothing else.

There is a sideload app for firestick that lets you boot an app on powerup. It doesn’t work most of the time, when it does, amazon changes something so it no longer works.

I have heard that one can use a kodi box which has a supported/maintained plex client, but same boat, you’re going to go through kodi before you get to the plex client.

My last thought was to take a raspi or similar and basically create a diy embedded solution with the plex client on a linux os. The issue there, as I understand it, the source code for the plex client was removed from the market years ago, so the only plex client available in source form is grossly outdated.

I’ve heard of rasplex, but I seem to recall there being issues, like using an old plex client or only supporting older raspis.

To be clear, I don’t want some other media interface to my plex server. I want the exact interface of the standard plex client. Is this impossible?

Basically, I’m wanting a firestick type device that runs just plex, and boots up to a plex screen. And I’d rather not have to set a pc next to the tv…

Is there already a good solution I’ve missed?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!
