PlexTranscoder - high CPU for no apparent reason

Hello. I am running the latest Plex Beta version on Windows 10 ( 1.11.1.4768).

I am running MCEBuddy to convert several files into MP4 format where the target directory is in a Plex Library.

During the conversion process, the PLEXTRANSCODER.EXE process is going crazy with CPU. It is dominating the machine and is starting to thrash with the actual conversion.

The conversion itself is going on in a non-plex temp location … so I can’t get my head around why the Transcoder would be running at all . There is no DVR activity within plex either and nobody is watching anything. There is also nothing about any conversions or play activity from the console. Finally, there are no optimizations going on as well.

I have tried to look at the logfiles to see what is going on, but there is nothing I can make use of with my limited plex skills.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to diagnose this problem?

thanks,
BrianGGG

Apologies, I just RTM … and it seems that there was an article about high Transcoder CPU that I didn’t see.

The top suggestion was about Generate Video Preview Snapshots. I made this a scheduled task only (as opposed to a media add) and this seems to have solved the problem.
