Hello, I think I read somewhere that plugins have been deprecated? If that is correct, why is there still a menu to manage them? I’m on the latest PMS. I wanted to try the MixCloud plugin but I guess this is no longer possible?
This is very old topic – yes, installing new plug-ins has been discontinued (for a long time). However, if I recall correctly, the Plugins menu was left in so that already installed plug-ins can be managed.
But it’s been a long time since I’ve been visiting/reading the forums so someone else might know better/more…
That is correct, there were a few non-media-playback related plugins that still worked like webtools, or agent plugins like subzero for legacy agents, so folks could manage them. I suspect it may be completely removed when we get API ready which is coming along but I don’t have ETA.
@BigWheel Can you comment on the third party agent support?
Does this mean no third part agents can be used in the new Plex API or will it require rework on the agent developer side?
I do not know the specifics on how it will work, but afaik third party devs will need to rework things. AFAIK Python is being removed is so they won’t work as is
Sorry I do not have those details. Not sure what devs are ready to share. I do know it was mentioned that there will be sample code published folks can use based their integrations on.
It will be interesting to see how this will be working out if somebody wants to add 3rd party agents/scanners once a movie or TV show is added to the library or gets updated. Will there be webhooks for this or is it futile to believe we can get this kind of “integration” with the new API?
I have a couple of agents/scanners I need to upgrade once the API is out - so, if you need some beta-testing, I am volunteering
