PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

install keymapper addon and bind a remote button to playerprocessinfo

Yeah I got the addon installed, not sure where to find playerprocessinfo in the app though.

I did connect an external keyboard though and got it to display.

Thanks. Found it and remapped to the button I wanted to use (and it reflected the number in the editor), but not working with my remote for some reason (Sony TV w/Google TV built-in). Was trying to use one of the colored buttons and didn’t work for some reason, will try again later this evening.

Could be bluetooth

Yeah or was thinking maybe the Google TV interface was overriding Kodi for those special buttons.

Although I should be able to get the same info w/PM4K and Show Stream Info (when I can get back to it).

Biggest thing I’m trying to find out is if the TV is showing Dolby Vision or HDR (along with audio format). It’s annoying - the remote has a button for ā€œDisplayā€, and when using an external device like Apple TV, it will show Dolby Vision, Dolby Audio, etc. But if you run Kodi right on the TV as an app (in Google TV interface), that some button just shows time/date on the screen. Stupid design…

just get the AM6B+ with CoreELEC and all problems are gone plus much better playback capabilities.

Yep, that’s on the (very short) purchase list! Although it’s running really well so far on my Sony TV (it’s a higher-end OLED model). Biggest exception is DV7 obviously. Not sure if it will pass Atmos yet as I don’t have a soundbar either (although the other apps on the TV pass from what I’ve read in reviews).

aha ok, I would also recommend getting a nice soundbar or maybe the Sony Quads (very good stuff) to squeeze out all performance, about Atmos you don’t get TrueHD Atmos but streaming compressed Atmos, big difference.

Much more likely. You can fix this using a keymapper for android (tvQuickActions for example). But at that point I’d consider getting a Ugoos.

Q990(c/d/…) if you consider a simple set and forget setup.

Looks like I should be able to get Atmos via TrueHD (at least according to this)? Or is a limitation of Kodi on my TV?

I haven’t used built in speakers in a long time but really can’t compare TV speakers to high end soundbars or similar, it’s night and day difference, I guess what it means with that is that you can playback TrueHD Atmos by connecting HDMI between TV and soundbar and get it, I haven’t tried as I’ve always had media player connected too.

Depends on eARC I think. If you have a soundbar, connect the media player directly to it, though.

yeah that is how I always connected the media players.

And get decent certified HDMI cables for both the uplink and the media player to AVR/soundbar connection! (Can recommend Maxonar)

Keep in mind this passthrough information is only for external devices connected to the TV via HDMI and how they will be passed through the TV to an external audio device over HDMI via eARC.

I’m not aware of a TV on the planet that will passthrough lossless formats such TrueHD from the built in apps in the TV. It’s not a Kodi limitation, it is a limitation of the TV.

Hmm that screenshot implies that, though. TrueHD via eARC means pretty much exactly that, no? That means there’s audio return channel capability with a TrueHD stream. Certainly possible, bandwidth-wise.

That screenshot is from rtings, I’m very aware of how they list this information and what the mean by it.

TrueHD over eARC is very possible, I do it here on my LG G3. But again, all of the TVs on the market AFAIK will only passthrough lossless formats from another device connected to the TV via HDMI. None of them passthrough lossless audio from apps on the TV though, even when it is an OS like Android TV used by Sony TVs.

If you find a TV that does, it would the first I’ve ever heard of.

Ah, gotcha. I misread I think.

I think the current design of the Plex for Android TV app is the best that’s been seen on a Plex platform and that’s vertical flyout. We all know the current horizontal new design isn’t really working but I suppose it could work if all the bad parts were removed.
