PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

Hi panni, any chance to look at what I wrote? Thanks…

Thanks, translated. Please update next time.

I believe there is a small bug in PM4K on ‘combined episodes’, where the play order incorrectly repeats one episode twice due to not accounting for the combined episode appropriately.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/

‘Multiple Episodes in a Single File

If a single file covers more than one episode, name it using the following format:

  • /TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – sXXeYY-eZZ – Optional_Info.ext

Where you specify the appropriate season, episode numbers (the first and last episode covered in the file), and file extension. For example, s02e18-e19.’

For example in the show ‘Recess’, lets say I play episode 23-24, named the following on disk:

On Plex desktop/official clients the behavior is correct, it will play Episode 23, but both episode 23 and 24 will be marked as complete once the file is completed. The autoplays then queues up Episode 25.

On PM4K the behavior is incorrect. Once episode 23 is completed, the autoplay will play episode 24 next, which then replays the same episode because this is a combined episode file.

On combined episodes, PM4K should queue up episode 25 instead and mark both 23 and 24 as ‘played’.

I hope this makes sense.

It does, it’s possible I didn’t account for this using the “live” episode state checker! Added to my list

Hi @panni,

I’m still getting the recompiling templates and restart issue about 3 times a week, now with logging enabled - see from 11:39 today:

The same video will always play fine after pm4k restarts and there’ll be no more issues until the same happens on a different video 2 or 3 days later.

Thanks

Hi panni!

I hope you are doing well. (-:

Inhabe a question…

In the original Plex client, movie collections with the same name as TV series collections are displayed together when you click on the corresponding movie or series.

Could you implement this as well?

Or have you already implemented it and I just can’t find the option?

Best regards!

Not implemented yet, no

If I understand you correctly, this answer is sufficient for me!

Not sure how to implement this yet, though. It’d need a hybrid display mode; I guess I implemented that with watchlist, so it shouldn’t be a big task.

But you’re close!

I have another question:

Unfortunately, I can’t log in to my Plex profiles via PM4K without an internet connection.

This works offline in the original Plex client.

Is it possible to change this?

Yeah it is, and I had it on the roadmap some time ago (fully offline and optionally no plex.tv at all).

For now: If you specify a manual connection in PM4K to your local server by IP and set Secure Connections to “Preferred” on your Plex server and Same Network in PM4K, you can use that server even if you’re offline.

Perfect workaround.

I will give it a try!

Thank you!

Do the “Allow insecure connections” and “Prefer LAN/local servers over security” need specific settings for this as well?

@panni any way to disable merging of virtual chapters with real chapters? it looks like it should only add virtual chapters if no real chapters are available based on the settings description but actual behaviour seems to be either no virtual chapters at all or having them always and merged with real chapters when available.

Edit: Looks like the behaviour has changed without actually updating the description, I added a PR with an option to toggle this behaviour: Optional combined chapters by daddy-cool · Pull Request #228 · pannal/plex-for-kodi · GitHub

I do use PM4K since 2 years on my OSMC Vero4k+ with latest SW version before OSMC set the player to end of support (Kodi 21.1)

Since some weeks I have the issue that PM4K do crash after user selection and password.

Today I did find the time to do some tests and I do only get it running normal if I go back to the latest version below 1.0 → 0.79xxx from don’t panic repo.

I do upload the log with the add-on, I hope this helps: https://paste.pm4k.eu/yaperiruju

Do anyone have a similar setup and also had the problem in the past?

I am open to make any needed tests and action because I really want get my lovely PM4K running again in my home cinema …

Since I bought my Vero V, I practically don’t use my Vero 4K+ anymore. However, I still have it for occasional use in my daughter’s room, running OSMC 2025.08-1 (by the way, one or two updates arrived in August, after the end of support).

I’ve never had the problem you describe, but at the time I was still using PM4K version 0.8.0-prerelease7 or previous.

I’ve now updated PM4K to the latest 1.0.5d release and tried to reproduce the issue. However, I can log out and log in perfectly fine, and I can use PM4K normally.

Please note that I might have done something different, since I’m using plex.tv/link to log in (after user selection), whereas you mention using a password.

@panni Would it be possible/difficult to add a movies “tagline” to the UI once you’ve clicked on a film? Like maybe have the movie tagline under Director and Cast?

Just thinking out loud as it could be a cool UI addition for the future if you run out of ideas! Some movies have really cool taglines and seeing as PMS already have them as metadata for your movies, would be cool to finally have a place for them to be displayed inside of a Plex client.

And as always thanks for all the continued hard work you put into PM4K!

Hi panni.

Bug Report:

I tried your workaround.

I configured everything on the Plex server side and also in the PM4K settings.

However, I keep getting a message that my PIN is incorrect when I select one of my profiles.

Only after I restore the internet connection is my PIN accepted again.

But… if I check the “automatically log in” box under “General” in PM4K’s settings, it also works offline.

So it seems there’s a bug related to using profiles.

But I need the profiles because we also use a child profile.

Automatic login isn’t possible here, as the children would then have access to everything.

I hope you can add this to your to-do list.

Best regards
