PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

I don’t believe profile selection works offline at all with Plex. It requires a check.

Yes, but not only online.

When you go offline, the local Plex server handles the PIN request.

I can log into my local Plex server with all 4 different profiles using PIN verification while I am offline.

I would also be pretty angry with the developers of Plex if I couldn’t log in to my own local Plex server via pin when i’m offline.

Therefore, it must also work via PM4K.

Perhaps PM4K would then obviously need to store the PINs in order to send them to my local Plex server, but that wouldn’t be a security risk for me.

Let’s see what Panni can do / say.

Hmmm I could have sworn you can’t even switch with the official client.

Just give it a try.

We’re both right. Just tried on AppleTV. I never actually use it, just my wife with her account. I unplugged the internet and got the expected error trying to switch. But reading it, made me think it uses a cache. So I plugged the internet back in, completed the switch then unplugged again. It was then able to switch offline though it took about 15 seconds after clicking to complete and show the Home Screen. So yes you can switch offline, so long as you have used the profiles online, recently

I’ve never seen this message before, but it’s interesting.

For years I’ve been using a Sony Android TV in my living room.

The internet goes down about twice a month. When it does, I always use the original Plex client on the Sony TV, since PM4K doesn’t work.

Loading the original Plex app then takes about 8 seconds, just like you, so a bit faster.

In another room, I’ve also been using an Nvidia Shield Pro, also with Android, for years.

However, I only use it every few months. I’ve never received the message you mentioned there either.

I only ever have to wait about 8 seconds to access Plex, always with PIN entry.

Only the choosen one can help us!

Interesting, noted!

1.0.5e (beta branch): script.plexmod.zip (3.1 MB)

Changelog:

  • Player/Timeline: Never allow timeline reporting below 0 seconds
Player: SeekBehind: Never allow seek target to be < 0
  • Player/MDE: If we don’t want a subtitle, report it properly to the Plex server (still bugged, probably server-side)
  • Player/SeekDialog/AltSeekFix: Never react to seek attempts while we’re waiting for a seek to happen
  • Plexplayer: Fix crash with non-existant audio stream

1.0.5d beta and 1.0.5d stable diverged slightly and stable added a bug. 1.0.5e beta is now on the same state with the bug fixed.

Been a Plex user for long years, and PM4K is fabulous. I’m thoroughly enjoying my remuxes on it. I have a very basic question:

With my TV’s remote, the “long press” of Ok/Enter does not bring up the context menus. I have to right-click with a mouse. The arrow keys and Enter work fine otherwise, as does the back button. Since Enter is ubiquitous and works almost with every remote, I assumed that was the way.

Am I misunderstanding that a long press of Enter should pull up the context menu?

CEC does not work with long press. Need to map long press to a separate key using the Keymapper addon

Hmm no. I could possibly implement a way for you to bind a button to delete something, though.

That’s a neat idea… thanks for considering

Oh interesting ok. I’ll see if Keymapper can make my TV remote do more. It’s a newer Hisense U8N model so the remote is nice. Thanks for the pointer.

I don’t know if it’s coincidental, but everything had been fine for the last couple versions, but now on the current it’s back to not updating watch status for my shows, like it was a couple months ago. It shows correctly in PM4K but back on plex web only the first few min shows played of an episode.

What version are you on and were you on?

I’m always on the current beta as they come out

So you’re on 1.0.5e? Vs. 1.0.5d there haven’t been any changes in that regard IIRC.

Yes. Probably coincidental then. It’s so strange that it only shows incorrectly on plex web, not the official apps. And only for things I played through PM4K.

Oh, that PlexWeb sometimes shows the wrong state I’ve also experienced. If the native apps see the right state, it’s not PM4K, but PlexWeb probably showing a cached value. Try CTRL+Shift+R

I’ll try it next time thanks

Haha it turns out the limiting factor is what the TV while in CEC mode is even willing to send and not override. The TV remote’s Play/Pause button is always handled by the TV and never sent to Kodi. The remote’s Settings button is always the TV settings. Etc. I can see why they would do that I guess. Wound up mapping the channel down button to ContextMenu for now. I made channel up “Play/Pause”. Seems to work.
