PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

Then you haven’t yet tried PlexKodiConnect, sir!

But I DO love PlexKodiConnect!

Now that I’ve shot my mouth off I go back to see that there are extra plugins for PKC on kodi-19 which I was not aware of. I need to give this another try, will yell in another thread if any issues.

thanks for replying!

Ok, tested on windows 10 pc (kodi-19.0-Matrix_rc1-x64). App loads, menu and everything but media won’t play. Just getting the blue kodi circle. PlexKodiConnect plays fine. On android tv (sony ag9) plays fine with kodi-20210119-8c761c47-master-armeabi-v7a build. Media tried 4k HDR TRUEHD and DTSHD. Of course on windows had TRUEHD to receiver with kodiconnect while tv kodi app was transcoding to dd+ and atmos. Stupid global marketing wasting all this power to transcode unnecessarily. Google get a grip on yourself.
Last point on tv I see in kodi system audio settings audio output device: audio track (raw) android iec packer, different from 18.9 version that just shows android

Finally got plex addon running with kodi 19 in windows. But plex player is not giving HDR. Can I use somehow plex addon with kodi internal player? Don’t find anything in settings

Well, my 2x NVidia shields updated to 19/Matrix. Now neither of them will play TV shows or Music using the Plex Addon on my Synology running PMS or another remote Plex server - they show the background image and then nothing happens… Movies work fine, as do home videos. TV and Music play fine on devices that still have Kodi 18.9 installed. Can’t see anything of use in the logs. The standard Plex app works fine, so I guess it’s back to that until Kodi/the Plex plugin are fixed. Have done all the usual, reinstalled, etc.

Android TV ( sony ) here, same as greebs, after kodi 19 update, no video plays, just sits on background image.

I assumed downloading the zip and installed would work for kodi v19 but it had dependancys that can’t be met. If I follow them and download each from Kodi I eventually hit script.module.chardet needs python 2.x.

Maybe I’m missing something, how do I get this working on a clean install of Kodi v19 on a Nvidia Shield. Thanks.

For me personally everything works fine, I just done a fresh installation of kodi and I used this new plex for kodi version and it works.

The only thing I wish is if you can add is that background is always black or some type of dark mode.

Too often this blurry background looks terrible because bright colors just don’t look as good as when we have black background or any dark background.

With this option, this would definitely become my favorite plex app

You have the option to change the background behaviour using my develop branches, outside the addon in the addon settings itself.

Thank you for letting me know, now this is officially my favorite plex client app

Same here.

Just want to say thank you guys and big thanks to ruuk on github who submitted a fix #346 to the Kodi repo two days ago. Now video playback (for me) works fine.

Yep, seems TV Shows are working again after a fix - Music (probably not many use it for that, honestly I don’t normally from my TV/shield either) still has the issue and doesn’t play.

Using a Nvidia Shield. Running v19. Installed develop_kodi19. If I enable “Allow HEVC (h265)” under video settings, Plex will have a blue spinner and then Kodi will crash and the Shield will lock up and (or the remote does not work) and I have to power cycle it. If I disable HEVC my PMS transcodes and it plays the file.

I have installed the version for Kodi 19 but get a error that says “Plex Error” check logs.

I have uploaded the logs kodi.log (50.8 KB)

Edit: If I install the one form within the Kodi repository 0.3.3 (it uninstalls 0.3.0) I can start playing a TV Show, it takes a really long time though to start, I get a Kodi pop that says the source is too slow for continuous playback but the file plays fine.

However if I stop the file and then try to play it again it crashes Kodi, I get a pop up that says:

One or more items failed to play. Check your log for more information. But all of kodi is now a blank screen and I have to quit and come back into the app. After installing 0.3.3.log (80.3 KB)

Edit 2: After trying to play a movie it hangs on the artwork with the blue circle and then kicks me out to the Shields home page but the now playing bar on the homescreen says the movie is playing, if I click on Open it just restarts Kodi.

kodi19 gave me the same error. Going into kodi apps I can have it auto update to version 3.3. Then it has the same behavior as develop_kod19 and HEVC wont’ play.

Tried uninstalling and re-installing Kodi and installing develop_kodi19 and still the same issues. Tried Kodi 19 Nightly and same results that HEVC does not work.

Tried to test Kodi itself, but I cannot set up any network share. It cannot browse and entering the SMB server, share, username/pass manually does not work. NFS is also the same issue. It’s almost like NFS and SMB are not even enabled in Kodi19.

Am I right in assuming this add on is dead and simply will not work with Kodi 19 and our best bet is to downgrade to 18? I have temporarily installed MrMCC but I would rather use the actual Plex addon.

Hi all.
Sorry if will look just like jump.
After kodi updated to 19. and looks like my plex was updated automatically, i have a problem with loading subtitles.
It works, but it will reload always the movie.
I don’t know what version of plex is there, if any specific branch, but i guess the “master” default one.
Kodi on Android (tv box)

Thank you

After having used the version posted in this thread for a while, I have now switched back to the version found in the standard Kodi Add-on repo of Kodi 19. Once switched, Kodi upgraded me to the latest version and I am really happy with the results. The Movie section now displays Collections and I can even see (and use) some subtitle support as well.

Thank you very much to the Plex team for getting this done! For me, the Kodi Add-on is required to be able to watch movies because playback on my Sony TV either way is stuttering or, for some formats, is showing green artefacts on the top and bottom.
