PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

Hi, just wondering if this was added to the main addon on kodi? I using the Shield TV and having the same issue with subs the first 10 seconds or so.

Having issues with Kodi 19 update that was done. Plex no longer plays anything instantly like 18.9 did. Also anything 4k(hvec) loads for like 30 seconds and then just crashes. Now normal content also just takes 15-20 seconds to load, has a spinning circle, during this the bandwidth spikes to over 350Mbps the entire time.

Exact same issue here

Probably want to update the bug here:

Thing is, Plex should be putting up a bug tracker somewhere. To not have a bug tracker seems like they are ignoring their users. The forum is not a replacement for a bug tracker.

So I tried again and deleted my install of Plex and installed from the repository (0.33) and nothing will play with this, it will look like it is loading something for a while and then just kick me out to the Android TV homescreen. I am puzzled this is working for some and not others unless it is something about the Android TV OS.

I’m facing the same issue here. After upgrading to Kodi 19, the plugin stops working. Tried installing the latest version 0.3.3 and the one from github kodi19 branch, but not of them work. Any help is appreciated.

Right now the only option is to downgrade back to Kodi 18.9 manually and install the plex kodi addon. Then disable auto update of apps. Post here tells you how you can do it.

Hello, on kodi 19 when I use plex addon and want to put the next episode, the icon is grayed out !!!

I checked on kodi 18 and I manage to put the next episode. I hope for an update to correct this

i have the same problem

So no update in the last month? Is the only fix to roll back?

Guess so. I just don’t bother using it anymore.

I hope the kodi app keeps getting updated, it direct plays almost anything, android app is awful compared to it. Staying on 18 for now :frowning:

Yeah I rolled back on one device now need to do the other Shield. But it’s a pain that you then need to disable app auto update.

Can you please tell me how I can do that?

I also installed this file (https://github.com/pannal/plex-for-kodi/archive/develop_kodi19.zip) from this comment:

It installed fine via ZIP from a network share. If I try to play a TV show that was already in process from native Plex it just spins. The Plex server shows it playing with time elapsing, but the picture and audio never appear. Just the little spinny thing. It will seem to lock up the Shield and become non-responsive but if I wait long enough after hitting the back button it will eventually stop Kodi and crash the app. However, I will get a bar at the top of the Shield home screen that shows Kodi playing the title still. I have the option to hit a stop button at that point and if I do it will eventually show stopped on the Plex server, but it takes at least 10 seconds to respond.

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but if there is anything else I can provide I would be happy to if I know how! I am willing to install the repository if it makes this process easier, but didn’t see a process to do that.

Thanks for working on this! I am doing this testing on my Shield, but this add-in is the only way I know of that allows me to consume 3D-MVC content under OSMC on my Vero4K+!

It’s basically what you did, you’re just using it without being able to quickly update using git (google ā€œgit howtoā€). You can just keep downloading the zip, though. Its name will not change with version changes, though, so you’ll have to look for changes/commits yourself. The zip is always the newest version of the branch.

When did you download the zip? I’ve fixed most of the issues that were encountered with Kodi 19 and P4K yesterday. If you’ve downloaded it before last night, please re-download the zip. It will contain the latest fixes.

Currently testing on NVIDIA Shield 2019 with latest Kodi 19.1.

just tried kodi v20 nightlies, but the Plex for Kodi Addon doesnt start. Will there be a version supporting v20 ?

If there’s no breaking changes preventing us from that, I don’t see why not. Let’s stabilize the addon for Kodi 19.1 first, though.

Im also just getting the spinning circle when playing anything on Plex. If I let is spin for like a min it will force close Kodi and softlock my 2019 Shield. I have to unplug and plug it back in to get back control.

Im running Kodi 19.0 with GitHub - pannal/plex-for-kodi at develop_kodi19 . Is there another branch I’m supposed to be using?

Can you post logs? I have no issues with my branch and Kodi 19.1 on NVIDIA SHIELD Pro 2019.

Also: Have you updated my branch in the last three days? I changed a couple of things.

@panni

So I think this is what you are looking for (in terms of logs)

I’m using Kodi 19.1 now, and it’s the 64bit version. (though I just tried both 64/32 and I get the same result).

I just grabbed your branch of Kodi a couple hrs ago and that’s the one I’m using.

hastebin is the log, this is when I try to load media but it fails. I grabbed the log before it crashed my system. Im not sure if I can get the log after a system reboot (to show the full crash).
