PMP vs Plex for Windows

See the sections about feedback and future considerations in the release announcement of the new Plex desktop client:

So the stuttering has been known since August 2019 and is still not fixed?

" * Stuttering during playback (cache, frame drop)"

Wow so you can’t take some criticism so you hide my post??? Way to go . . . This just makes my case!

Oh good you can parrot back some meaningless information. You should be taking this post as feedback!

Great you have audio pass-through on the list of items that may or may not happen.

If you want acceptance from users you need to make the core functionality of video / audio playback the first priority. I mean why even consider removing existing functionality that is currently working great for a product that is in beta at best?

It was one other user and another moderators who hid your post, @tom80H didn’t have anything to do with it.

Why do you have a problem with me calling you out? I have been a paid member since finding out about Plex in 2015 currently with a Lifetime Membership. All I want is some real answers for the continued issues?

The mod should at least PM me with what they found offensive. There was nothing in my post that was derogatory or offensive. Just a challenging stance on the state of affairs.

I read it. Seemed offensive to me (One Year Ban Veteran).

Here’s how you survive in the Plexiverse - you adapt - or die - or get a couple hundred of your friends to riot.

You’re all alone here - adapt.

@JuiceWSA What because I said he is parroting back information???

How is that offensive . . . I view offensive to something like swearing at him, calling him names or a (for example only) statements such as “do the world a favor and pull your lip over your head and swallow” / “why don’t you just do the world a favor and kill yourself”. That most definitely would be offensive and would be completely understandable for that to be taken down!

Clearly I am not alone . . . Refer to this post Audio Passthrough on the new Plex app and the other 50+ posts on the forum.

OK, good luck to you.

Plex already had to change horses in the middle of this stream, got their pants wet and now they’re developing a nasty rash.

I doubt they’re going to change directions again, at least until their pants dry out.

We may or may not be kept in the loop, but rest assured as long as TV View lives on something - we’ll be using it - however we have to. As for PfW/M every update sees something else. We’ll all find out where it leads - together.

Also I find difference between Plex Media Player and Plex for Windows.
Plex Media Player ask to upload a new version after it exists , but Plex for Windows does not ask for update. Why???

And also If this two software products will work in parallel , so you can leave it both on site

Because they’re different applications and both need to stay updated.

Just because PMP needs an update doesn’t mean PfW needs one too.

This is different applications and both need to update in different time, I know.

But old app is ask to update, new app is not ask even if new version of PfW release on site . Downshifting ???

Needs to stay both version on site

Anyone else notice that with the new Plex for Windows the animations are horribly slow? I have a Surface Book with a dedicated NVidia graphics card, its so weird that it lags
Its like the animations run in slow mo like 1/2 or 1/4 of intended speed and it makes interacting with the app horrible
I would just rather use the web browser then this.

I also like the previous option for true sync as well that allowed transcoding options if needed, in addition to max / original quality.

OK, we are back to the point of 08.2019 as it seems, huh? I was happy when the public outrage made you rethink your idea to throw a bug per definition as media player to the masses, but it seems you wanna retry, if the masses will pick the forks again? Belive me that your player called Plex for Windows is FAAAAR away from being a replacement for anything. The most basic features we lamented about last year are still not available. I see no audio passthrough, no screen frequency sync to media, no nothing. These are MANDATORY features if you wanna watch a movie in Dolby Atmos or have reasonable quality on DTS/DD+ audio. Same for the screen refresh rate. Seems like Plex staff LOVES microstutters everywhere as no TV screen / beamer or whatever you wanna use does output a useable refresh rate by default. The new player app is a mess in stability, a mess in usability and a mess playback quality and if you think this pre beta app is a replacement
I feel very sorry for you. Luckily you warned me early enough this time and I will very closely check every new version of PMP from now on and that in a Sandbox! As soon as you remove anything feature wise I will upload the oldest useable version everywhere and use that. Everyone else is free to use that one then too and updates will be perma blocked! As soon as that state is reached ppl will start to look for alternative Media Server solutions and maybe even find one or two of use. You did not understand one essential thing in your staff. NO CASUAL YOUTUBE WATCHIN KIDDIE USES A MEDIA SERVER, PRO USERS DO! And PRO USERS want what? SETTINGS! OPTIMIZATION, CUSTOMIZATION to the spcific needs of their home cinema. You always say we are the minority and we are useless and not needed. I am 3*10^8 % sure we are NOT. The customer is the king as we say over here. And that my friends
you seem to be keen on learning the hard way!
If you think you are right with your “way” to go, then completely remove the support of PMP and put it on github. Pro users can handle their stuff by themselves then and your “player” app will be left unused by ppl with some demand to a movie playback. By ppl who spent money to have a cinema like experience at home and decided to use your toy for that when it still was useful!

And now lets see if I am accused to personally attack someone, too or if I get what was requested by the OP and MANY others at the very begining. and by now. A reply with explaination what to expect in the future, what you are thinking you can throw at your customers without risking to fall down to meaningless level. ANYTHING, but no useless “we are working on that” THAT my dear friends we got as reply in 08.19 and NOTHING is worked on as it seems by now! Only thing you are working on is getting back to your course to an iceberg collision you started to follow in August and then corrected it for a short period.

Just got the message that Plex Media Player will only be supported in TV mode. So what to use on my windows machine? As the Plex for windows app is not good and doesn’t even show the TV guide. Starting to regret I paid for Plex

That seems odd, the grid guide shows up on the Mac version.

It shows up on the Windows Version too.
(after I pinned it - apparently it arrived since the last pinning session)

I’ll try it later today. That would be a good addition. But I might have been confused between the windows app (store app) and plex player for windows. I understand these are different.

Uninstall that Windows Store App - it’s done.

So keep trying the new windows application. And everytime the lack of de-interlace makes live TV look horrible making me going back to PMP.
Why is de-interlace not implemented? Seems like every decent video player has it.
