PMS 1.15.0.659 wont play TV or .mkv media on any client

UPDATE: has nothing to do with PMS version. Same problem started happening on 1.14.1.5488. I updated again to 1.5.0.659 and some of the media played properly. I am beginning to suspect a database problem.

UPDATE 2: Media playback has been restored in all clients except the Windows 10 store Plex app. On all computers, it refuses to play anything and produces error MF_MEDIA_ENGINE_ERR_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED: HRESULT - 0x80072EE4

After a recent upgrade to version 1.15.0.659 in a PMS docker container, no TV shows recorded through the Plex DVR/HDHomerun would play. Also, most .mkv movies ceased to play. This was with web, iOS and FireTV Plex clients; none worked

I rolled back to PMS 1.14.1.5488 and all is well. EVERYTHING that would not play in 1.15…0.659 again plays in any client.

If this has been happening for while, and is the DB, a back up might not help but you can try to restore a back up https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

Thanks, I deleted the codecs folder and let Plex download them again as necessary. It seems to have helped.

Now my only issue is the Windows 10 store Plex app refuses to play anything on any computer. See update 2 in my original post.

UPDATE: Installed Plex Media Player and deleted Windows 10 store app - problem solved
