PMS 1.16.3.1402 Crashing

Server Version#:1.16.3.1402

I have been been running Plex Pass Media server for years and this is the first month i am having continued issues with it crashing. I have tried disabling hardware transcoding, i disabled all scheduled tasks, and it still crashes every day or other day.

I have updated windows server 2016 with latest updates, i am using built in windows defender with no other virus scanners, i stopped using plex media server service thinking that may be the issue, but it wasn’t.

I have also tried optimizing database and clean bundles, and it still happens

I have tried reinstalling, i have plenty of available ram, is anyone else having similar issues?

Also, i noticed its not doing automatic or partial scans anymore when i add media, i have to manually select scan library for it to add media.

Logs? SO that they can troubleshoot?

yes, i am waiting for next time server crashes, and i will post them here

Remember though, you will need to take extra steps to get crash logs.

Particularly this.

  • Note : The next time you launch the application, the crash logs will be uploaded for aggregate analysis of crashes and will then be removed. Therefore, please retrieve the crash log prior to launching Plex Media Server again .

its strange, the crash dump folder was empty, and i had not restarted the plex media server, so i am not sure why the folder was empty

I’m also observing some crashes on both my windows and qnap servers. Attaching logs for review.
I’ve since reverted to previous version (1.16.2.1321-ad17d5f9e).

Windows Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-23_14-53-58.zip (2.7 MB)

i’m also getting lots of crashes with version 1.16.3.1402 most notably just opening plex app on my phone or android tv

i am also using windows server 2016

Ok, i had to do alot of work to get my plex working.

First I uninstalled, then reinstalled the non-beta 1.16.2.1321.

Then i had major issues getting my HDhomerun to show up in dvr, so then i had to uninstall then, then reinstall a previous version 1.16.0.1226, remove my tuner/dvr, then reinstall 1.16.2.1321 so my hdhomrun tuner will be recognized again.

The state of plex is really off, i have never seen so many issues with a public build, i am a devote plex pass subscriber from the beginning.

They need to take a break from adding new features and fix the existing ones they have,

Worst part of it all, is now the beta build i had issues with 1.16.3.1402, is now released as the public build.

How in the world is this release bug free enough for them to release it to public?
