PMS crashes every night during maintenance?

Server Version#: 1.16.3.1402
Player Version#: unsure, but no issues.

So as it says, for the last few months, the server crashes and the tray icon disappears sometime during the night, and I think during maintenance within Plex. I tried looking for conflicting .dll files that may conflict, to no avail. I have everything up to date, and the server runs fine normally. I have attached the logs, I’m not technical enough to understand them unfortunately. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Your logs roll over, due to you have enabled verbose logging
Switch that off, restart PMS, and wait for next time it happens, then re-upload new set of logs

Thanks, wildo, didn’t realize I had it enabled. Should have it tomorrow.

I have a similar effect. However I have rolled back versions of PMS to a stable one. Albeit I did a migration install as per my post Plex Media Server 1.16.x.xxx Crashes after migration

Hi all, logs are attached, non-verbose.

Please let me know if you see anything weird. It crashed at an odd time today though.

Thanks - Josh

Do you have the time it crashed?

Since latest crash upload was: Jul 18, 2019 12:43:27.648

And so much going on at your server, so it’s important, that you upload logs right after the crash, instead of starting up again!

Thanks Dane, I’ll make sure to download logs as soon as I find that the server has crashed. I appreciate the help.

So the server definitely crashed this morning, sometime between 1am and now. I have attached the logs, thanks everyone!

Sadly, there’s nothing in the logs, indicating any crash :frowning:

When said though, you have some shows not following naming std

BBC Life 720p bad title, and missing season xx folder

Same for other BBC shows

Next step would be to go into settings, and disable all scheduled tasks, to see if they are the ones causing it, as well as check Windows Event log if that contains any clues

Hmm okay, I’ll try that, thanks. This is getting pretty frustrating.

Event log is clean, I still suspect some .dll is interfering. I may start rolling versions back as well, but will def start with scheduled tasks.

OKay last time before I roll back. The server was running well for 3 days/nights with no crashes, but it crashed last night some time. Last logging attempt, if you don’t mind, thank you much!

Sadly still nothing :frowning:

I am still on PMS 1.15.8.1198 and don’t trust the new versions until someone can confirm a bug that has been mitigated. PMS 1.15.8.1198 has been running since my last reply. My scheduled tasks occur between 2am and 5am. All tasks enabled except “Update all libraries during maintenance”. I think I have even manually successfully done a database optimisation once, or twice since my last reply.
It could be that the PMS coding has been changed in versions 1.16.xx for library scanning?

Since the 2 new updates since my original posting, it seems to have been resolved. I have most scheduled tasks running at this point for a week now, with no crashes.

I am hoping it was just a bug in the particular version.

Thanks for the support all.

Plex is still crashing on me every 24 hours. Version 1.16.5.1488
Back dating to Version 1.16.2.1321 it runs perfect!
Any help is appreciated.

@dane22 when you get a moment do you mind taking a look at my logs and seeing why my server randomly crashes. The update causes it every 24 hours. Backdating to 1321 seems to just be random(days or weeks) the icon will disappear and I have to restart the server. Running Windows 10 fully updated, tuners are fully updated also. Thank you!

Logs sadly not usefull, since they rolled over

You need to grab them right after a restart, then upload again

Appreciate the reply, ok will do next time.
