WOW. Latest update to 2.2737 has caused a HUGE increase in CPU utilization.
Testing with only a single playback, 1080p, Direct Stream shows transcoding and 90% CPU Utilization, where it’s normally about 5% on my Ubuntu box. No other changes to system.
What is this update doing?

Can you provide details, logs, something more than “OMG” ?
“OMG” isn’t actionable.
I need to see it, caught in the act of whatever it might be doing naughty.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I just hopped onto the server to get you some logs, and with 4 family members (local streams) CPU is near 0 for Direct Plays. Not sure what was happening yesterday, but I can’t seem to reproduce it now, and the kids haven’t complained about any buffering or hesitation - so perhaps it was just one of those days.
Disregard… I’ll continue to monitor. Thank you again.

Watch out for subtitle burning. PGS, VOBSUB, and DVDRIP (Image based) as well as the players asking for “ALWAYS BURN”, will always chew up a server’s CPU in a hurry.
Thanks for the heads up Chuck, I’ll keep that in mind.
Everything we do here at home is via a ChromeCast, so haven’t encountered that.
