PMS 1.32 Corrupts Some Recorded Show EPG Data

PMS for Mac 1.32.6.7557 & 1.32.7.7621

The EPG data listed for the OTA Live TV ABC broadcast show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for this entire current season (“Season 21”) is corrupted by PMS upon recording.

The EPG data for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” displayed in both the Live TV > Guide and the Live TV >DVR Schedule listings are correct, but upon recording PMS has corrupted the EPG data for every show recorded, substituting data from 2022 (apparently). The recorded filename is correct, however.

PMS 1.32.7.7621 Example:

The recorded show corrupted EPG data (ie, after recording finished):

(I will send staff logs and databases.)

Thanks for the Plex Media Server database and screenshots. The logs did not give the relevant information because they were captured sometime after the end of the recordings

There are several aspects to this problem

  1. The schedule information from Gracenote for channel 4.1 KOMODT Affiliate: ABC for the Jimmy Kimmel Live! is giving the season number for the airings as Season 21 instead of Season 22

  2. This discrepancy should not have mattered because long time ago, we took the decision that the EPG metadata may not be in sync with other metadata sources and so we stopped replacing EPG metadata when the DVR recording libraries are scanned. This was mentioned in the forum Live TV & DVR category, as a pinned topic EPG metadata is now retained for DVR recordings - Live TV & DVR - Plex Forum - this decision was made in February 2020

  • So with this change, the information from the EPG would be retained and if the numbers are wrong, it would not matter , but this would only work if one keeps DVR recordings separate and does not manually change the metadata by forcing a match. Similarly it would not work if recordings are made into an existing library where the show was in the library from another source - not a DVR Recording and so would have non EPG metadata

I have made Gracenote aware that the season number ought to be 22 and not 21.

This has now been corrected by Gracenote

These are the airings up to Friday on channel 4.1 KOMODT (ABC)
