PMS 1.4.4, What's Up With On Deck Now

In the new PMS release On-Deck is behaving very strangely.

It will intermittently show items that have never been played. It seems (In TV Shows) it will randomly display shows from series that only had a “Fix Incorrect Match” done.

One minute they all show on the dashboard as on deck, re-display the dash board they are gone, then again randomly show the on deck again after re-displaying the dash board.

The cycle randomly repeats itself.

Example screenshots and log files please?

That description isn’t enough to go on.

I would if I knew how to make screen shots.
I will research that since I never have needed to take screen shots.

LOL
Hate to admit that.

What kind of logs are you looking for??
Browser or PMS?
At what points during that situation?

With the error on the display:

  1. Screen capture it.
  2. Capture the console logs
  3. Now the server logs… Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs… Tells me what it’s sending from its end.

Before running a fix incorrect match

After running incorrect match on Futurama.

All that was run was fix incorrect match on Futurama and now Futurama shows on deck.
Incidentally the other 4 items have NEVER been watched either.

@ChuckPA
Above are screen shots
Attached are the logs

BTW, I am on windows so there are no console logs per-se

@ChuckPA

I just noticed that it also put Futurama in the Continue Watching slot with a pointer somewhere half way thru the video.

Since I have the on-deck setting at the lowest (A week I think) could Fix Incorrect Match be setting some date that is used to figure out Time On Deck to the time fix match is run thus causing a re-display??

Just a thought…

There are always logs somewhere >:)

These are the ones I speak of… those from the bundled web app.

sorry https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201611836

@ChuckPA

Here are the Plex Web Logs.

I have the debug enabled by default so these logs match the event.

Not related… but while I’ve got the hood up…

    "type": "log:message",
    "level": 4,
    "message": "[Connections] Retrying server events connection for Plex1 in 30 seconds",
    "time": "2017-03-17T18:49:43.864Z"
  },```

shutdown?  no longer used?

@ChuckPA
Dunno.
No time given to help me know what was happening during that log entry.

If it is recent as of any time after yesterday morning the server has not been shut down.
Yesterday morn is when I updated to 1.4.4

I have had SEVERAL occasions where clicking on a movie card or link Plex web would hang and never display the detail screen for media. What I had to do was go to the home page and keep trying till the media detail page would come up. Could have been timing out. But FYI. The PMS was Idle except for doing a couple recordings simultaneously. Maybe this is another issue all together but associated with a busy DVR component.

Dunno.

Do you have a Plex1 server? (Settings - Devices - Servers) will show it.

Also it will be visible on the left panel drop down. If it’s no longer used you can 1) select it. when it times out 2) 'remove server` and it will be gone

Nope. It just shows my server’s name that I gave it.
I do have a Plex1 server in my dropdown but that is a remote user that I share with and it is actively connected and useable.
No Plex1 under Devices->Server
However when these error occur, I am connected to My servers name and it is flagged as located nearby.

Ok. Just checking. I saw that being pinged and while going through this, thought I’d let you know just in case.

You DO bring up an interesting point.
I am using Edge and in fact have 2 PMS windows open.
One 4 Real Deal… and one for Plex1.
Does Plex Web use session variables??
In my web development days, I had encountered situations where 2 browser windows open to the same site at the same time the two windows can get confused about what window has what session variable. (In IE.)

But that cannot be related to the On-Deck issue but maybe the timeout?

Just a thought.

Why the double post / empty quote? That meant to be part of the previous?

Plex/Web does keep session tokens as any proper browser javascript would. The state of those icons and their colors is periodically polled (timer). I’m not a windows person. I can only tell you that in firefox and chrome (Linux) I don’t have any problems with them being confused. The normal cookie mechanism underneath the tabs always works as it should.

I Just did not know if you saw that suggestion.
We were posting at the same time LOL

I see it. you’re not the only person I respond to (I do some 300 emails each day)

I didn’t see this had been mentioned, but watched status for items NEVER go away from the database. So if you ever had something matched and watched before then remove it from your library, if it gets added back, the old watched status will come back. If you look in the XML, you should see a “lastViewedAt” value. Check if this is an older date.
