Server Version#: 1.40.0.7775
After updating to new windows server beta I can reliably get it to crash when doing a Refresh Metadata at the Artist level in my music library. Logs attached.

Edit 2: Now on hosted web app some Artists won’t display at all with “Something went wrong”. Some artists display fine. Seems arbitrary.
Yeah, it’s a regression Music Artist with no album groupings results in an error - regression with 4.121.1
Is the server crashing entirely or is it just the web page?
Your logs, at least from when you enabled debug logging, don’t show any crash.
I just refreshed metadata on an artist and had the server crash (server shut down on windows machine had to manually run it to get it back). Logs attached should have the crash in there.
using ubuntu and 1.40= beta just crashed and will not start at all gets to 185~190MB of loaded libs and stops - no webui and no method to start
revert to public deb package from “https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf/debian/plexmediaserver_1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf_amd64.deb”
this works without a full db fail back - just pops right up with out issues and running smoothly like nothing happened

Suspected a DB schema change or background task to update but the please desktop app in windows and linux shows no changes and server is idle ??

Different than my issue. Plex runs fine and serves media with no issues just can’t refresh metadata

It would be useful if you’re running beta version to have crash reporting enabled at all times so we can gather more detailed crash reports.
I cannot really deduce anything valuable from your logs as this time.
Have you provided server logs anywhere?
Had some time this morning to experiment with this a little. I turned on crash reporting and debug logging then did this:
Logs attached for the experiment above. Send crash to plex was turned on the whole time as well so not sure if you see anything on our end also.

Pretty sure we’ve tracked this down, the issue is occurring when fetching the lyrics data.
As a work-around you can disable “Find Lyrics” on the library until we resolve this problem.
Yep I turned off find lyrics and refreshed metadata on a few artists with no issues. Thanks for tracking this down.
Ran into this crash today also after a few days of running 1.40.0 but can clearly see that Lyrics is a factor …

Have disabled Lyrics for now in my library until a fix is found.
We will be releasing a hotfix to the beta shortly with a fix for this - as well as other crashes

Sorry not yet - I am hoping now that a new beta for 1.40.0 will be released next week. I have an alpha build available - it is going through QA at the moment

This fixes a number of the Plex Media Server crashes
Turned lyrics back on with latest beta and no more crashes. Thanks!
