Good to know…perhaps the bug only happened in that one build. A little concerning that this bug seems to keep showing up but glad that it doesn’t stick around too long
Unfortunately, I will need to uncheck the solution
Recently I had a Windows update and rebooted my machine. I then noticed that some new music tracks were not automatically being picked up so I manually scanned the folder, which did then show the music as expected.
After all of this though I then looked at a track which did have lyrics shown but now is back to throwing the generic error.
Uninstall and reinstall of Plex did not correct it, so I also ran a full fetch of the metadata, which also did not correct it. Perhaps something is blocking the communication to LyricFind?
This only happened after the following steps were done and, between each step, I tested the exact same album/song.
upgraded to the latest server version 1.21.0.3608…this didn’t automatically do it
moved the LyricFind agent under Settings > Agents > Albums > Last.fm to the top…this didn’t automatically do it
refreshed the metadata on the album…now the lyrics showed up
At this point I am not sure specifically which step did the job (the server update or the agent move) but I’m running a refresh of all my metadata on my music library.
Everything was working and all I did last night was reboot my Windows machine and today I have the lyric errors yet again. That was it…no Windows update, no new update of Plex, no changes on Plex…just a simple reboot.
Lately it started working again for me…sometimes it’s a slow load (~20 sec) while other times it is quick (~2 sec). Again I haven’t changed anything (and yes I know people say that all the time but unless I am sleep programming… ).
I’m leaning towards thinking that this is an external issue with the LyricFind service but I thought that the info was stored in the metadata on the server because you need to run a refresh all in order to enable it (unless it is just setting an internal flag). I haven’t looked into the db in sometime so I could be mistaken.
Due to the sporadic nature of it at this point I am taking this as “it is a nice feature when it works”.
I noticed that certain times of day, lyrics do not work. Check back the next day and they work. I suspect there is an issue with the LyricFInd. Just wish there was a way to download the lyrics to the server.
I have the same issue. Yes, there is a way to add lyrics to your files but most of my music has the lyrics in the tag it self. Why can’t I just read my tag for my lyrics. Please fix this, this is really annoying and in 2021 there has to be a better way than to add a lyric file to every song I have in plex. Just allow us to search a different search engine so to speak. I think I know what is going on with the lyrics, it is trying to match my mp3 or the time to the lyrics. I didn’t buy PLEX for a karaoke machine. I just want my lyrics. Please fix it or let me know and I probably can come up with a solution.
Yes, they state that they download it to the metadata. Absolutely NOT! I can listen to a song with lyrics added by Lyric Find but the next day or week later I listen to the same song and it can’t find the lyrics? This shows that a song I listened to with lyrics aren’t being downloaded because it searches every single time for the lyrics to set it up the the Karaoke machine so it can move through the lyrics. Please stop the Karaoke machine…
Not sure how everyone else’s experience has been but I have been playing around with the lyrics for the last several days and so far it has been mostly solid (i.e. ~95% consistent).
There were a couple of times when it would spin a long time on the odd song and then not work but that could be due to other factors like the the system thinks it should have lyrics but doesn’t actually.
